Lots of fighting, drama and of course romance. First time I've read this author and I can say I will be looking (stalking) out for the next Portland street kings!
Hope I don't have to wait too long.
Read in April, 2015
I do like books from Evie and this was no exception.
You are taken on a thrilling ride and are introduced to the Portland Street Kings. They are family not related by blood, but related through the harrowing childhood they experienced together.
Slate is one of the oldest of the family and we see things through his eyes on how he coped with things as a child and what made him become the man he is today.
Piper's job is everything Slate hates and also blames for his and his families experiences in childhood, but there is an undeniable chemistry between the pair of them.
I loved everything about this book, from the steamy sex scenes to the action that filled the pages. I for one cannot wait for the next in the series.
So, you go out for a drink with friends, some numpty starts giving you grief and then a knight in shining armour comes to rescue you. Who wouldn't think this is going to be a fabulous story? We have all wanted to have the confidence to give that knight a personal thank you, but as a one off our lovely leading lady does! A woman willing to take what she wants and get out while she still can. But can she?
Slater King came through Hell to get where he is. Dragged up through the dirt and the grit along with his brothers and sister, he has carved a safe area out for himself and his family. How long can that safety really survive in his world?
Its an interesting introduction to their world and I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops over the subsequent books. What a fabulous Alpha Slater is, I love his demanding ways! He loves fiercely and protects mercilessly - once you are within his circle. Such great twists and turns through this book and heading straight into book 2 - Fatal!!
Foster care let this family down, not a family by blood but of love, being together was survival which lead to the start of The portland street kings a street gang.
A family that helps runaways and broken kids like they once where but at the same time a family name with a reputation that proceeds them.
It's a story of how the past can define the future but in an instant it can change. The past can also come back to haunt and it does, some good and bad.
Slate is the head of the family, a family that had had to steal and wheel & deal to survive, they have claim on their turf and like all gangs have rivals.
The main plot focuses on Slate and Piper, a bar one night stand that becomes more, their relationship and the revelations that arise.
A hot read with danger, action, angst, an alpha male and without going to much into spoilers, a fast paced, goodread.
Negatives: Finished to abrupt like an almost cliffhanger as there was no hea, a finale it seemed rushed.
