I get first efforts and all but at least have someone proof read the damn thing. Preferably someone who understands things like subject/verb agreement, tense and point of view. The story is just not strong enough to overcome all of these weak and amateurish errors. I wish I could get my money back.

HASH(0x95f9d98c) out of 5 stars Captivating Sci-fi Adventure! 2 May 2014
By Cheri Clay - Published on Amazon.com

The year is 2169 actually 200 years after the Apollo 11 landing on the moon. Technology is greatly advanced. This time the Western Republic is about to launch Columbia, a well advanced spaceship than its Apollo predecessor, to embark on an exploration of Epsilon Eridani.

This is an amazing sci-fi adventure from a brand new author that is destined to be a sure-fire hit. Creating new worlds and galaxies that sets his readers imaginations aglow; McCahan has what it takes to fulfill sci-fi lovers’ fantasies. I thoroughly loved the characters especially Glory for her determination and pride. The details from the spaceship, technology to the grand adventure are very descriptive and presented very well creating a mesmerizing storyline. Equally great is the historical content that rounds out the story. As someone who doesn’t read a lot of sci-fi I found this story captivating drawing me in curious as to what will happen to our space heroes and not wanting the tale to end. A must read for sci-fi lovers old and young alike as there is something here for everyone. I myself highly recommend “The Collective” and can’t wait to see what is next from this outstanding author!

HASH(0x95f9dbb4) out of 5 stars Science fiction is not my usual genre but "The Collective" by David mcCahan is very worth reading. 14 May 2014

I have read The Collective and enjoyed it very much. It is interesting, beautifully written, and the humor is excellent. I have read several "first" novels and they have all sounded amateurish but this one does not. I will look forward to many more novels by this author.
HASH(0x95f9de18) out of 5 stars Has excellent potential 3 Jun. 2014

This is a clever, original story that could have been much better had the author bothered to have an editor take a look at it. Like so many self-published authors, McCahan rushed this into publication before it was anywhere near ready, and it's a shame because the storyline is fun and interesting. I read the whole book despite the ubiquitous grammar, spelling and vocabulary errors. Sometimes it felt as if I were reading a book written by an elementary or junior high school student. Also, I think the characters deserve to be fleshed out a bit more. Mr. McCahan - you tell a very good story, but please get someone to edit your books for you. The mistakes make it very hard to read and take the reader out of the context of the story repeatedly and frequently. I hope to be able to read this book again when it's been republished after a good going-over by an editor. And once that's done, I hope to eventually read "The Collective II" and beyond.

HASH(0x95f9dc98) out of 5 stars good story, hopeful for a sequel. 13 Aug. 2014

This was a good read in the flavor of Robert Heinlein. Enough action to keep you interested and a crew of characters who are believable. I hope he does a sequel to this book.
