This book was probably assembled as a research project or classroom tool for students at the university. However, the book is quite readable and the background material is fascinating. If you want to really get a good grasp on the sheer greatness of the poetry of Stevenson, this is where to find it. I found all of the collections such as "The Songs of Travel" which I never knew was nearly so extensive having had my only familiarity with them through the Vaughan Williams Song Cycle I sang in my college days. This is definitely a great buy and a great addition to my collection of Stevenson works.

HASH(0x9600a108) out of 5 stars A revelation 18 Mar. 2009
By Michael Baxter - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Robert Louis Stevenson is well-known for his stories such as Treasure Island. Many will know some of his poems for children. However, as this book shows, he also wrote many fine poems for adults. While he cannot be regarded as a really great poet, he should not be overlooked by anyone who enjoys late 19th century poetry.
