Format: Paperback
This book is an excellent anthology of contemporary, i.e. "art" photography and photographers. I am not in the lucky position to be a "collector", but nevertheless the book makes an interesting read and introduction to this type of art. It covers the work of 40 photographers.

It provides several examples of each photographer's work, along with information about how the images were made and the philosophy behind them. The boks final chapters include one with a potted biography of each photographer. The book is portable yet well printed and is well worth buying.

Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
90 percent of this book consists of a contemporary photographers listing (including Ed Ruscha...).

The rest (which is no more than about 20 pages including photographs) tell about "guidance on taking care of precious pieces, storage and display", "galleries, museums and art dealers from across the world", "fairs, events and schools", "price guide to cover all collecting budgets". Although the profiles of photographers are interesting to read, the part of the book on collecting issues is very, very thin and is a disappointment compared to the enthousiastic description on the book's back cover.
