Coleman Sundome - Blue
Have more fun in the sun
As the sun beats down on your family day out at the beach and the harmful ultraviolet rays damage your childrens skin you'll be rueing the day when you decided against purchasing the Sundome shelter. Luckily, it's not too late to avoid making that mistake.
The Sundome, from Coleman, is created with a 'UV Guard' that not only prevents the fabric from degrading but also ensures UV rays do not penetrate the fabric. Additionally, the aluminised PE groundsheet doesn't get hot and burn your feet meaning you can comfortably relax in the shade. Practical and easy to pitch, the Sundome is the right beach accessory to protect your family this summer.
Sand pockets allow the user to anchor the tent down on beaches and soft ground.
Groundsheet zips on and off the flysheet, keep contents safe and dry when zipped up.

When my order came I immediately took it in the garden to build it up. First impressions were good, very easy to build up. The poles are a bit thin but feel quality as the inner walls are thick. You get a bag of pegs for use on grass. The groundsheet is nice and thick and the shell material seems good quality. I checked all the seems and the zip, all very good. Then a 5 minute hosing assured me of the waterproofing, it is at the very least short heavy shower proof.
A feature I had been looking for in a shelter was the sand pockets, as I use these just for the beach you cannot use ground pegs. I tested them out on the beach and they provide decent grounding in a light to moderate breeze. Plus you have some guy ropes for more stability which is a nice touch as you don't often see them on little shelters.
The size of the shelter is just right. You can get changed in it, fit 3 adults in (just) and zip up if it rains and it's nice and light to carry.
The shade created by the shelter is nice and cool, not many rays make it through, giving confidence in putting children in it to keep them out of the sun.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the all too common problem with tents of all makes, the carry bag is tiny. I'm a big strong guy and as hard as I tried I couldn't wrap the tent tight enough to easily for it back in the back. It takes 2 minutes to build up and at least 10 to pack it away. It does eventually go in but it is stressing the seams on the bag, I can't see it lasting too long. Maybe it's me not using the right technique but it seems an all too common problem with all tents, not just Coleman.
Overall I am very satisfied with the shelter itself and can see me getting many happy years out of it, even if the bag doesn't last.
The premise is simple; two poles, pegs and a small tent with an integrated groundsheet. The assembly is easy once you decipher the instructions. Erect it once and you will never be stuck again.
The integrated groundsheet is capacious and is large enough for two adults and two small children. The groundsheet can be zipped up to create an opaque chamber, perhaps for changing on the beach. There is also a small pocket for valuables at the rear of the tent.
The tent can be pegged down if required and if angled correctly, it provides a great deal of sun protection.
One feature I would have liked to see would be a suspended mesh floor so the sand could fall through, as I have seen on other sun tents. The sand seems to collect in tent and then gets into everything.
The tent is also a little heavy for its size when packed up. This is a consideration when packing it for an overseas holiday with modern day baggage allowances.
I would recommend this tent - the assembly is a tad fiddly as stated the first time but it provides a strong shelter with ample sun coverage.
Easy to put up and lots of anchor points for hard/soft ground. It won't fly away!
Not the easiest tent to pack away, but that is forgivable given its size and funcionality.
The kids love playing in it and once zipped up, it also gives them a private area to get changed and to store items when going for a dip in the sea.
Great service - as usual - from Nencini Sport. Very fast delivery and a pleasure to deal with.
This tent apparently comes in large and extra large, and the photos show a tent that comfortably fits an adult/happy dude in speedos, and another that fits a small family. I'd assumed large = the smaller of the two, and XL = the larger. So, I ordered the large. Maybe it's my own fault for not Priming a tape measure before ordering but it seemed logical that the two sizes would correspond with the two sizes shown.
What I received was that massive thing pictured above in the review photos with the kids and huskies in it. It's bigger than my 3 man backpacking tent, and almost as heavy. Not something I can chuck in a bag.
Why are there reviews and photos that don't correspond with the listing? It's an irritating issue that Amazon shouldn't allow - multiple sizes/styles on one listing with reviews for all mixed in together.
Anyway, if you want a tent your family can fit in, this is the one for you.
I'd give more stars because it does seem well made, but I'm sour that I have to pay for return postage.
