70QT Xtreme Cooler
Coleman Xtreme coolers are designed with premium insulation technology which keeps the contents cold on ice for days. These coolers are perfect for long road trips, days spent on the campsite, or even sporting events. As an added feature, robust lids are strong enough to be used as a seat for up to 113kg! The Coleman Xtreme insulation provides premium cooling performance, with comfort handles that won't pinch your hands whilst carrying.
Thick, Premium PU Insulation
Tests show that cooling loss is 30% through the top and 30% through the base.
New models feature increased insulation in the lid and base, and reduced insulation on the sides, resulting in smaller exterior dimensions yet retaining interior capacity and performance.
We uses polyurethane, the highest quality insulation material available on the market - utilising up to 30% more insulation.
When a cooler comes in contact with a hot floor, heat is transferred directly to the cooler. If the cooler is lifted off of the ground, the heat is transferred through the air in the gap (air is a great insulator). Cooler have two integrated, rounded feet providing the perfect amount of space for air to flow.
Research indicates that the most performance efficient shape for a cooler is spherical, as this is not practical we have angled the corners of selected models to further enhance performance.

The cooler seems to be of really good build quality and its is also lightweight for its size.
The top lit has got 4 holes to place your drinks(similar to a car cup holder) so it was very convinient to have them on top when the lit was closed.
What amazed me was the capacity of the cooler and the time frame that the ice cubes did nit melt. I tried this cooler on a hot day 45° Celsius from 8:00-17:00 and the drinks were cool until late afternoon.
The cooler is a bit bulky for one person to carry so i purchased a foldable trolley to move it around.
Tip: I didn't want the drinks to be extra cold so i bought a bag of ice and didn't open the bag until the early afternoon.this helped the drinks remain cool but not cold. Opening the ice bag and throwing some ice in the cooler will drop the temperature significantly and since it has great insulation the drinks will become cold within 30-45 minutes
Have used it so far for one trip of 6 days and was very pleased. The cooler is large and needs a lot of ice packs or bags of ice to get it cold initially - if you can load up at home and have some frozen food (sausages, pre-prepped chili, Spag bol, etc.) in that helps. Once chilled it maintains temp well. We used about 10 no-brand freeze packs initially when we left home, then moved to a bag of ice or topping up with four or so ice packs from the campsite each day when they thawed. This kept the temp inside the box cool and we had no problems with food spoiling, including milk/ meat. Butter was also firm so a good indicator of the ambient temp. We had put the majority of the blocks on the bottom so that the food stood on a raised platform. This meant that we could use the bag of ice and allow the cold water to remain in the bottom of the box without soaking food. Some sort of plastic rack or using food storage boxes on the bottom would work in a similar way. Draining water when needed is easy via the valve at the end.
Negatives are that the only way to access the box is via the whole lid being opened and also that the lid needs a positive push down to close.
Build quality is good and the weight of the box alone is fine. I was OK lifting it by myself when full, but others may need two people. That said, it's unlikely you would buy this box for solo trips.
Fits OK into the back of a SUV/ Estate, but you'd need to check the dimensions carefully for a normal saloon boot.
