Product Description

From the Back Cover

Cold Tangerines---now available in softcover--- is a collection of stories that celebrate the extraordinary moments hidden in your everyday life. It is about God, and about life, and about the thousands of daily ways in which an awareness of God changes and infuses everything. It is about spiritual life, and about all the things that are called nonspiritual life that might be spiritual after all. It is the snapshots of a young woman making peace with herself and trying to craft a life that captures the energy and exuberance we all long for in the midst of the fear and regret and envy we all carry with us. It is both a voice of challenge and song of comfort, calling you upward to the best possible life, and giving you room to breathe, to rest, to break down, and break through. Cold Tangerines offers bright and varied glimpses of hope and redemption, in and among the heartbreak and boredom and broken glass.

I recently read this book for a second time and it was just as amazing as the first time. Probably better. I remembered some of the stories and anecdotes, some of the reflections and thoughts. But not all of them. Some of them seemed completely new to me which was great. It was like discovering a treasure chest all over again that you had forgotten you had. Amazing. My favourite thing about this book is the honesty within it. Niequist doesn't creep around the truth, hiding the bad stuff away from the light she shines on her life. She tells us about the bad things as much as she tells us about the good things. It's really inspirational and I have recommended it to so many people.

I've been a fan of Shauna for quite a while, following her blog and Cold Tangerines had been on my Amazon wishlist for ages so I was delighted when I got given this book as a gift!

Cold Tangerines completely and absolutely exceeded my expectations. It is SO well written that you feel like Shauna is personally telling you her stories. You can tell she has thought intricately about every sentence that when she describes a moment, or a scene, or a sound, you are remembering it with her.

The book is a beautiful collection of thoughts about finding God in the every day - it really causes you to stop and look around at the detail of life and appreciate it, rather than let it pass you by. I have laughed and cried at this book and it's the kind of thing you can read just a little bit of, muse on, and come back to. It is a book to cherish, chew over and savour...that's if you can resist reading it all in one go!

I know this is a book I will come back to time and time again when I am worn out and need reminding of the preciousness of every day life.

100% recommended!
