Product description

Product Description

Codorníu has over 450 years of winemaking expertise and its own extensive vineyard estate. They are in the unique position of controlling the winemaking process from selecting and planting the vines through the entire production to final bottling. Their family-owned vineyards are located across D.O Cava. This allows their winemakers to work with grapes from a variety of regions, with different climates and soils, to obtain consistency. No other cava maker can say that. It allows them to perfect every single bottle and ensure that year after year, they produce the best quality that the harvest allows. With their own extensive vineyard holding, they have been able to experiment with different grape varieties over the years to see which do well around the cava region and produce the best flavours in the glass. This is how they incorporated Chardonnay and Pinot Noir into their blends. They now have the oldest holding of Pinot Noir in Spain and are certainly THE Spanish expert in this notoriously tricky to grow, but deliciously elegant, grape variety. They have partnered with local vineyard owners for generations to source their best grapes to be combined with their own.

Pinot Noir by Codorniu was a great discovery I came across a few years back in the home of Codorniu while visiting the Cavas at Sant Sadurni d'Anoia and I had a taste, since then it's been a summer drink for all sorts of different ocasions and I truly recommend for the value and great refreshing, frutty taste provides.
