Product description

Book Description

Cocaine Confidential goes inside the lives of the coca farmers, the jungle sweat-shop workers, the smugglers, the suppliers, and, ultimately, the dealers who provide for the world's hundreds of millions of users, to reveal their stories for the first time.

From the Back Cover

The ex-public schoolboy supplying coke to the rich and famous of Barbados. The Eastern European gangster, whose vicious feuds are staining the cocaine underworld with blood. The English ex-international footballer, who doesn't have a choice. The hitman out to pull off the perfect job.
These are just some of the extraordinary characters who make up the shadowy and murderous criminal fraternity engaged in trading one of the most addictive narcotics known to man. In Cocaine Confidential Wensley Clarkson tells their stories, along with those of the Central American coca farmers struggling to make a living, the dealers who sell to celebrities, politicians and royalty alike, and the Mexican cartels machine-gunning anyone foolish enough to get in their way.

I found this book an ideal holiday read as each chapter dealt with different people along the complete cocaine chain, from the local growers through to the cartels and then to the street dealers and gangs. Although some chapters were stronger than others it gives a good insight in to the dangerous and violent world of cocaine production and distribution, from the perspective of all concerned.

I enjoyed reading this book and found it difficult to put down. The author gives a surprising summary of the cocaine trade and gives food for thought. I was slightly shocked at learning the extent of how much of this drug is moved around the world.

Whilst I can understand the danger the author must have faced in gathering the information and at times his life must have been in jeopardy, I cannot help but think that the book lacked depth. I appreciate the effort the author has made in writing a book that I really did love reading and found difficult to put down, well worth paying for. I am b going

I loved every minute of it and I have read a lot of similar books, but you captured the whole essence of the world they live in, I feel like I have visited Panama, I would love to know more about the time until spent there.

Very revealing, well researched book that tells it how it is from the horses mouth. Cocaine far more wide spread than thought, increasingly dangerous world to be in.
