Got this purely to enrich my occassional gaming experiences. Excellent value for a 256Mb video card. Made me want to play "Fear" all over again just to see the improved dynamics and it was so worth it. Most recent games support this chipset and will benefit greatly from this card. There are better cards out there if your pockets are real deep, but you'll be hard pushed to find better value for money at this level.

I recall having one of these about 8 years ago, but I don't remember buying it from Amazon.
I do recall that I had non-stop problems with drivers for it, but when it did work, it seemed to work quite well. However it was glitchy on Windows XP and I struggled to find much support for it. I guess if I was pushed I'd say it was okay.

Great value graphics

When I ordered this card, I was looking to update my GeForce FX 5200, which was struggling to run Call of Duty 2 at even the lowest resolution and in Direct-X 7 mode. The Club GeForce 6600 solved the problem, I can now run the game at high resolution and in Direct-X 9 mode, which has revealed several stunning effects which I didn't even know existed in the game! Now I keep re-playing old games just to see what they look like, and I'm never disappointed.
Installation was very easy - genuine plug and play once you've installed the latest driver from the supplied CD - despite there being no printed manual.
There are several goodies included in the box too, including DVI-to-VGA adapter for running two VGA monitors (the card comes with one VGA and one DVI socket), an S-VHS-to-composite video adapter for connecting to a TV, free game and DVD software suite and more.
It's not the fastest or latest card out there. If you're looking to upgrade an ageing AGP graphics card to breathe a bit more gaming life into a two/three year old PC, as I was, then it's perfect.

Excellent graphics card for the price

I have to agree with the two other reviews, this is a fabulous purchase. I bought my PC from Dell 2 years ago and although the processor was the latest available at the time (P4 3GHZ) the graphics card supplied (Nvidia FX5200) wasnt really up to much.
Thus this month I finally purchased a Club 3D Geforce 6600 card along with another 512mb of ram (total of 1GB). Its resulted in a massive increase in performance. For example Half Life 2 and Pro Evolution Soccer 5 now run very smoothly in 1024 x 768.
Two things you should be aware of though is that you may need to install a new power supply. The card requires a minimum of 400W but these are easy to source and pretty cheap too. Secondly make sure that your motherboard has an AGPx8 port. Other than that it was very simple to install, a lot easier than I had anticipated.
All in all this card is a veritable bargain and definately well worth the investment!!

Incredible Graphics Card

Let me start by saying, this is a fabulous graphics card. It runs all my games smoothly with pretty much the maximum settings.
it as easy to fit, and i had, at that time, no idea what i was doing. It has a very quiet fan, which compared to my case fans, may as well not be there for all the sound it makes.
I bought this to replace my old GeForce FX5200 which did not have the power to run Halo.
This card is fantastic value for money, has a faster RAMDAC that the PNG card (which is Â£130 for the same GeForce 6600), and is all round a brilliant piece of equipment.

Excellent Graphics Card

The Geforce 6600 is an amazing graphics card for it's price. I was looking to update my ageing graphics card to run FS2004 which takes a hell of a lot to run smoothly. After installing the card i immediately noticed the difference with a massive increase in framerates. If you are looking for a top-end card for a reasonable price then this is definitely one to look at. It supports DX9 with a VGA to DVI adapter.
