The play doesn't thrill me as much as it did when I first encountered it, but it's still an excellent piece of stagecraft. Profound in places, it is undeniably romantically trite in others. The humour is as fresh as it was in the sixties.

This is a wonderful piece of social history. Beautifully written, lyrics moving and exquisitely haunting and with great attention to capturing the mood of the times. A truly amazing, human play.

Brought back fond memories of Manor Park Grammar's production in 1973.
