This set has a little car with figure which both of my boys (aged 14 months and 3 years) have enjoyed playing with.
A downside to this set for me is in the fact that the bricks are so soft - you do need to construct the set carefully which isn't at all easy for young children to manage. My three year old simply lost patience with it because they wouldn't stick together. He might persevere as he gets a little older perhaps, but for now he found it frustrating.
The biggest thing will be anyone who has ever stood on a Lego brick, these large bricks are soft and flexible so no more magic dance around the room when you find a rogue brick under your foot.
The downside is they are not as secure or rigid so not as tight fitting but again for the age group this is probably more of a positive.
Nice bright colours, easy to handle (and soft underfoot).
My little girl is 23 months and is so far happy to make towers if not a complete farm yet :)
I got this set hoping that it would be suitable for our four month old granddaughter but even though the bricks are softer than the duplo and lego bricks, she had difficulty picking them up without hitting herself in the face or hurting her mouth.
I got the petrol station set for our 18 month and two year old grandsons but I wouldn't recommend them for anyone younger without constant supervision because of the size of the dolls and other smaller parts. Although the petrol station is worse than the farm.
There are no instructions in the box and didn't notice that the tractor wheels were different sizes, I ended up putting the small ones on the back instead of the front and they were difficult to get back off (which is a good thing).
There aren't enough bricks in these sets to keep the toddlers entertained, they ended up ignoring the bricks and just playing with the truck and the tractor.
I was concerned that the wheels(and winch in the petrol station set) were not already attached to the vehicles but were enclosed in a small plastic bag. When I took them out to attach, our youngest grandson picked a wheel up and put it straight into his mouth, which could have presented a choking hazard.
The stickers are tricky to put on unless you have dexterous fingers and once they are on they are difficult to get off again.
I think these sets are a bit pricey for the number of bricks. When I opened that box the bricks only filled the lower half which seemed a bit wasteful.
Granted this set is for slightly older children, but I still believe that there are some small choking hazards (ie, the tractor wheels) even for this age group.
The popularity of Clemmy sets, is that the blocks are soft and squishy, so children can't be hurt by sharp corners, or falling on hard bricks, so I was quite disappointed to find that this set is a mixture of both soft blocks and hard pieces (the actual house, tractor, girl etc). I did assume that all the pieces would be made of the soft material. The different style of parts in the set mean they do not fit together well at all, so very easy for them to spill over and slip out of each other - can be frustrating for small hands to fiddle with and get them to stay stuck together.
I also found the set to be quite expensive for what you get, a very limiting number of 15 blocks so it's not really good as a starter set, to really have some fun with it you would also need to purchase a second set of blocks for the kids to really build anything substantial with it.
I doubt I would purchase anymore of these sets, to be honest it's more worth while buying a second set of the original standard Clemmy blocks - more blocks = more fun! :)
In my opinion it really is only designed for very small children that are just developing the skills to pick things up and put things together. As other reviews say, there are not a lot of bits to put together and it is quite simple. For me this was a good thing. I wanted something simple for my little one. She thinks it's great! It's rare its ever put together correctly but she doesn't care! The car gets pushed along the floor too and she loves it.
Even if this only has a life of a few months for under a tenner there really is no cause for complaint for me. Simple and attractive for the right age.
