I think this book is brilliant. I'm nearly 15 weeks pregnant and have read quite a few pregnancy books but this new book is definitely the best one. It's a very positive book and it gives a lot of encouraging advice and a simple exercise plan to follow for each trimester. The exercises could all be done anywhere since they don't require weights just a small resistance band loop which I bought from a fitness shop but it can also be bought from Amazon.

. The recipes in the back of the book are suitable to be used in all trimesters and what I like about them is that they are all easy to follow and don't require any fancy ingredients. The book focuses on eating well and nourishing the pregnancy body rather than on dieting and restricting oneself.

This book also includes recommendations for getting pregnant and it has a section towards the end for managing a healthy exercise, eating plan and life post baby. I highly recommend this book.

I am a big advocate of James Duigan’s Lean and Clean plan, and you can find my review of the first book among my other reviews, for this one though, I thought it best to hand over to my wife.
'I love the Clean and Lean plan. It’s easy to follow and makes logical sense, and when stuck to properly, (I have to confess to slipping more than I would want) has tremendous results. From the first book I really bought into the whole concept. That said, when the second one came along, (Flat Belly Fast) I was disappointed. It seemed more like it was written to promote his range of supplements, and the very idea of trying to drop weight so quickly seemed to go against the whole ethos. Which was why I read this book with slight trepidation, wandering what over-priced vitamins, only available through his stores, I was going to have to buy. But there was none of that. And I only wish I have discovered it sooner, rather than with just four weeks to go in my first pregnancy.
What he says makes sense, the exercises are logical and the recipes are geared to mum’s with newborns and very little time. (In truth a few of them still seem a little time consuming). It is simply laid out and I had no problem, navigating my kindle version at all. Many of the exercises are repeated, but it saves you flicking backwards to where they were first mentioned, which in my opinion is a good thing.
But beyond the basics of recipes and exercise is the reassurance that this book gives you. It is not filled with horrors stories of what can go wrong if you don’t follow this, it is not demanding that you carry out x minute of exercise every day.

I cannot comment on the contents of the book, as I have only just got it and I am male - I bought this for my pregnant wife.

I would like to comment on the cover. The image of the girl on the front is one of the most photoshopped images that I have ever seen.

As this book is to be read by people in a stage of their lives when they are very body-conscious, and as this is about natural eating/ movement, I think that the author/publisher should use a natural and real image.

If the premise of the book is that you can look and feel great through diet and exercise, they shouldn't have to use photoshop to show this!!!

Nice book, beautiful pictures and encouraging tales from other mums but could do with more on nutrition/diet. Lots of exercises but, as a regular excerciser, I found them a bit too unchallenging (12 weeks now so may change my mind!). Overall though, it's nicely put together.

Lovely book and sounds promising but...
the meals are no good to you if you suffer with morning sickness. I was 'clean and lean' follower before the pregnancy and all I ever craved since 12 weeks onwards is carbs! and the exercises get really borning after a while. But I'm sure it can work for some, but don't expect anything new if you have other books already.

Nothing new, just some exercise you can find on YouTube (in more detail on Youtube), diet tips available everywhere on google, same old pregnancy tips, disappointing...

This book is very positive, but the woman on the front cover is only about 20 weeks pregnant - not heavily pregnant and fed up of increasing cellulite yet! I wanted to have a mega healthy pregnancy with lots of exercise and fruits and veg. Unfortunately, my morning sickness got in the way and the only time I felt normal was when I was eating (and not fruit and veg, but healthy things like cornettos and chips and gravy!!) - at all other times I was just very nauseous and tired. The first time I drank ginger ale for my sickness I cried from utter relief, only to find that I needed gallons of it to ward off the sickness in the long term and I eventually felt sick just smelling it - probably due to overdose. I went from a size 8 to a 12 (maternity clothes) in the first 2 trimesters and now up to a size 14 at 32 weeks. I have decided not to punish myself too much if I don't eat healthily as happiness and a positive outlook are important things in pregnancy too!! My thighs will shrink back at some point too, I am sure.
