About the Author

Candice Kumai, former host of Lifetime's Cook Yourself Thin and TLC's Homemade Simple, had traveled across Asia, New York City, and Los Angeles as a fashion model by the age of fifteen. At twenty-two, she received her professional culinary training at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Los Angeles and cooked in several California-based restaurants. Candice was the youngest chef to compete on Bravo's inaugural season of Top Chef at age twenty-three. As a major influencer by the age of thirty, Candice wrote and developed recipes for more than half a dozen cookbooks, including the New York Times #1 bestseller Cook Yourself Thin, Skinny Bitch Cookbook, Recipe Rehab, and Novak Djokovic's Serve to Win. Her cookbooks include Pretty Delicious, Cook Yourself Sexy, and Clean Green Drinks. Candice is featured in and contributes to dozens of food, health, beauty, fashion, and lifestyle shows and publications.
In 2012 she began hosting workshops in New York City at the James Beard Foundation. Additionally, Candice has been an ambassador to the White House AAPI Alliance and The Resolution Project at Harvard Club of New York City. Candice has spoken at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, Columbia University Medical Center, University of San Diego, The New York Times Travel Show, and the NBA. Candice is the chef ambassador to 1,000 Days (founded by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton). She volunteers her time with Whole Foods, The Chef's Garden, and Health Corps. She is a fellowship member of the UN Foundation.
Candice is currently a regular judge on Food Network's Iron Chef America, a health journalist, and food editor-at-large at Shape and Men's Fitness magazines.

Love this book! so inspiring- especially with summer just around the corner! Candice writes in a clear and informative way & the book is full of really neat tips (my fave is frozen bananas) and a SUPER handy weekly diet table (I'm really bad at planning my meals so I stuck to this religiously at first..but obviously you can do as you please) It takes commitment, but once you do a little spring cleaning of your kitchen pantry & fridge, do your first healthy food shop, and start following the recipes (so basically, get organized!) you'll feel happy, healthy, and full of positive ambition ;)

I absolutely LOVE this book! I did a 10 day smoothie cleanse using a different book and the ingredients repeated themselves so I was on the hunt for something else. I have a Vitamix blender and I have used several smoothie recipes from Clean Green Drinks. I like the different supplements that Candice has in her book like flaxseed, chia seed, coca powder, and spirulina to name a few. The best aspect of this book is that many of the recipes I've tried, taste great! Some of my favorites are: Green Banana Mint, Dark Chocolate Chia, and the Green Pumpkin.

I did see one review about serving sizes, and I agree that the serving sizes are off. The only negative I would mention is the binding of the hardcover book is already broken and I bought this book in January 2017. I'm very careful about keeping books in good condition, so I was disappointed that I had to try to tape some of the pages together.

Regardless, I always rave about Clean Green Drinks and a few people I've told have bought it and love it. You won't be disappointed!

I like this book because the recipes are good and the ingredients are very healthy.. I would have rated this book 5 stars but did not for two reasons. One, I don't like that the juice recipes and smoothies are intermixed within each category. I had invested in a Vitamix blender and do not plan on investing in a good quality juicer too, so I have no interest in the juice recipes, so I wish they were separate from the smoothie recipes. Two, the serving sizes are inconsistent. Some recipes serve 2, some serve 3 and some serve 4. For me, this does not work well because I only make smoothies for myself. For every recipe, I have to divide the quantities down to one serving size and some do not turn out well when reduced down to a single serving size. I wish she had created the recipes for a single serving size and for those who make smoothies for more than one person, it is easier to just repeat the ingredients by the number of servings needed.

5 Star. Nothing short of it. One suggestion: A reference section would be helpful. For example, finding a particular ingredient in one of the recipes that you might be looking for. I find myself paging through the whole book looking for one ingredient that I remember being in a favorite drink. I could "bookmark" the page, BUT there are too many favorites. It's a small book, I usually find it, but it would be more efficient especially in the morning when one is in a bit of a hurry, nice if the book had this option. I ordered a second book for a gift. It is exciting to try the new recipes and their combinations that one wouldn't "think" to combine! I love the breakdown of nutrients and their values on each page. I found the table of contents helpful as well. My favorite: The Chocolate Avocado Goddess!

I have had this book for three weeks now and I am able to replace my breakfast and lunch with shakes. I have a lot of extra energy. I make a healthy dinner every night and I have noticed when I do eat dinner or lunch with real food instead of a green shake I can only eat half of my food. This is an awesome little book. There are some specialty ingredients but only a handful and they are used throughout the book so you can really use them. That way you're not gambling on buying something and only using it once. I like that lots of the recipes only have a few ingredients - when I got it there were some recipes I could make with what I had on hand. I take the book to work with me sometimes, preparing for a grocery trip and smoothies to last me a week. I feel great when I replace a meal with a smoothie from this book. Nutritional information is all there too for those calorie counters.
