Claudes Christmas Adventure is such a heart warming Christmas tale of a gorgeous bulldog who is left alone at Christmas with a constant appetite, and a craving for gingerbread, that gets him into some mischief.

I have a dog and I can't imagine what it would be like to leave him behind let alone how he would cope.
Claude is a strong lil pup with a thirst for adventure, survival and a rather big appetite. He meets some interesting characters along the way!

Claudes owners the Mc Cawleys decide to take a Christmas Holiday, but unfortunately Claude finds himself alone and on his street when he misses the car.

However as soon as the Mc Cawleys realise Claude is missing they do everything they can to make it back to him.

Claude soon finds he's way into a neighbours house by belly flopping he's way through the cat flap.
In need of food and survival, he's adventure begins.

I love how the story has been written by four people's prospectives.
You get a different take on the story bringing it to life.
It takes a chapter or so to get used to this style but after a while you realise it works.

The story is so beautifully written with an eye catching cover who could resist such a charming story.
It has everything you need to make a great Christmas story.
Friendship, adventure, adorable & cheeky dog, baking, community spirit, love, humour, bringing people together.

I hope you all enjoy Claudes adventures as much as I did.
I have a dog and I can't imagine him even being able to squeeze in through a cat flap! Especially without getting a bonk on he's nose first!

I really recommend this book to everyone not just animal lovers, as there is a little something for everyone!

I received this book from the Publisher in exchange for a honest and fair review via NetGalley.

I would love to start a campaign to get this turned into a film, it already feels very movie-esque and would become a must watch over the festive season. In fact if I was in the habit of re-reading I would certainly be tempted to read this each year, as it sums up Christmas miracles and human nature at Christmas perfectly.

Claude is a French Bulldog who is ruled by his stomach, he is constantly on the prowl for food, but when a series of slight errors mean he starts chasing arch nemesis, Perdita a cat that lives next door, he finds the family car is driving off without him on the day before Christmas Eve.

Claude has no idea what that moment will mean in the end to not just him, but everyone on Maple Drive, in the run up to Christmas. Claude has this way about him that leads to various humans wanting to help, and in doing so they end up helping themselves.

Each chapter is split into three perspectives, Claude's which is always great as I love seeing the world through the eyes of an animal, Daisy who is Claude's human and mother of 4, and then Jack or Holly. Jack is the Maple Drive postman who is a bit disappointed that Maple Drive doesn't have the sense of community that he thought it would, and Holly loves crafting, and baking and Christmas, but is alone this Christmas.

We get to see the various ways a two day period play out from different points of view, and from what starts as reasonable paced sweet sounding story, turns into the most wonderful and heart warming of tales.

The cover of this book was enough to make me want to read it! Claude is a much loved pet and is all set to go to France for Christmas with his people. A miss-timed chase of a neighbourhood cat and a chance placing of a soft toy mean they go off without him. Being without his people is bad enough but not knowing where his next meal is coming from is a disaster for poor Claude! However his plight totally changes Christmas for a number of people and makes a community out of a suburban street.

Told from Claude's point of view as well as other people in the street and in the family this is a lovely heartwarming read that I really enjoyed. Thanks to Netgalley for giving me the chance to read and review this lovely book.

With the main character being a loveable pooch named Claud, this was a book I was keen to read. If you love Christmas and dogs, this is a book to enjoy. The McCawley family are going to France for Christmas, taking their dog Claud. Unfortunately Claud absconds from his crate in the back of the car to chase away Perdita, the neighbour’s snooty cat. As the family are caught up in a flurry of activity they are blissfully unaware that Claude is left behind in Maple Drive. Alone, he finds himself cold and hungry as Christmas Eve approaches.

With Claud’s amusing narration (there are multiple viewpoints) I settled into this very quickly. Claud is not the only one facing Christmas alone. Jack the postman has only recently moved to Maple Drive, and starting to realize there is very little Christmas spirit in this neighbourhood. Then there is Holly, owner of Perdita who loves crafting and baking but has no one to share it with…..

This is an easy read with lovely descriptions of all things Christmassy. I do like Holly - her kitchen would be so inviting on a winters day! Claud and Perdita were loveable and funny. It is similar to’ Alfie the doorstep cat’ in that an unlikely furry creature brings people together. There’s a nice little romance but the main focus is community and belonging that leaves behind a good feeling. A light, sweet Christmas story that could leave you wanting to go to your kitchen and bake gingerbread!

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
