This stainless steel fine mesh infuser is 4.4cm outer diameter and 4cm inner, and approx 1.8cm deep (after you have expanded the mesh to full size following it being flattened by the postal process). It is well manufactured with no rough edges and the clasp holds the two hemispheres together tightly. The flimsy chain is 10.3cm long and each link 0.3cm wide. You could easily replace this with a cheap sink/bath plug chain though from a DIY shop.

My tea caddy design made it impossible to fill one hemisphere directly with tea, so I had to fill it from a teaspoon which is fiddly. You cannot stir the mug once the infuser is inside as the chain falls into the mug, but you can grasp the chain and turn the infuser instead, afterwards letting the chain dangle down the side of the mug.

The infuser retains 99.9% of the leaves so only a very few very small particles escape into the mug. As there is no stand, once your tea is brewed you will have to find somewhere to put the infuser as a small amount of liquid will still be retained.

Cleaning is problematic because although it is easy to carefully tap out the vast majority of leaves, some leaves and particles infiltrate the all round gap between the inner rim and the mesh on both hemispheres and cling stubbornly when wet.

You have to wait until the infuser is completely dry and then the leaves fall out with a quick tap or three.

The infuser does the job well and is cheap and cheerful but a cafetière from the pound shop will work just as well and is easier to clean.

I bought expensive tea and a few leaves still manage to get into the cup, so I have given up and gone back to bags. You will probably have this issue unless you buy your tea from a handmade tea company rather than a supermarket. It's only a bit so you may not worry, but I found it irritating

for the price this was quite good, however it wasn't very well packaged and arrived very squashed out of shape and took me some time to get back into a ball, this was a present for my daughter who had requested one and she was delighted with it

The item is great to be fair it is very small but hey for its purpose it is ideal, it is squidgy and when our postman tried to squeeze it through the letter box he squashed it so better packaging would help. The item was not damaged though I had to push it back into shape.

Does the job and easy to clean! The chain attachment tends to fall into the cup though but its not the end of the world as I just fish it out with my teaspoon
