About the Author

Steven Fallon has been attracted to the Scottish Hills throughout his life. Bagging Munros became a virtual obsession, resulting in him completing 14 Munro rounds (the world record!) and qualifying as a mountain guide. Hill running was found to be the most enjoyable and quickest way to get round the Munros which in turn led him into competitive hill racing and mountain marathons.

What a great little book with fantastic photographs. I will certainly be planning some of these runs in 2010.

This is a great book, and although it's primary audience are those who like to run over Scotland's hills it would easily sit in the book collection of any hill walker. The route descriptions are very clear and are backed up with gps file downloads from the author's website (in itself a great resource!). The routes are grouped by region and each section starts with a relatively easy run and ends with a more testing outing, with either the race record or estimated time given where appropriate.

This book is highly recommended to anyone who enjoys wandering the hills of Scotland, at any speed!

Steven's website has been a great source of inspiration and information as I've started my hill racing activities and now he has put it into a handy pocketable format. Over the years, I've taken much pleasure in climbing the hills of Scotland and, over time, have started to become more and more ambitious with my mileage. Most of the online and written resources are geared towards hill walkers - if you have the ability to go longer and further, then there isn't much out there to guide you, until now. This book is a great introduction to the hill racing scene and longer hill running.

My only criticism was going to be that I wasn't in any of the photographs but I'm in there, on page 31. You do need great eyesight to see me though!
