The box brings what is called "classic albums", although the last 03 albums of the band (Chinatown, Renegade and Thunder and lighting) could have been included as well.
No extra tracks are included in here, but just the albums exactly how they were released in the 70's. The CD's come in digipack format and there's no booklet included.
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars here was due to the fact that they could have included a bit more of information in the CD's such as song credits, and song lengths. I understand that the idea was to provide a good boxset at a reasonable price, but how much more would it cost to include that information ? I wouldn't mind paying and extra pound for that.
Anyway, if you want to start listening to Thin Lizzy, this is just perfect ! I hope they do the same format for other bands as well (Motorhead is already available).
Sound wise, they've been brilliantly re-mastered. Unlike far too many other CD re-issues I've purchased, the albums seem to have retained some of the warmth and primal energy heard on the original vinyl.
As for the packaging, for me it's a Marmite deal really. Many will probably be put off by the fact that the CD's come packaged in cardboard sleeves rather than a plastic case. There's also no booklet or even liner notes to be found, be true fans know what they're buying and a quick trip to Wikipedia can easily help find out about the personnel who played on each track for those who really want to know.
The albums included are as follows ( I mention this as when I purchased the item, they weren't listed in the description):
"Nightlife"; "Fighting"; "Jailbreak"; "Johnny The Fox"; "Bad Reputation" & "Black Rose".
Every single Lizzy studio album that's worth owning is including here and if you go out a buy a copy of "Live & Dangerous" to go with them, you're pretty much set up to fully experience & appreciate one of the best hard rock band's ever in all their glory and pure Rock n Roll energy.
