Product Description

Our iconic Clarks Originals' men's Desert Boots are reinvented in rich navy blue leather. Designed in 1949 by Nathan Clark the Desert Boot was inspired by a rough boot from Cairo's Old Bazaar. An instant hit, it became the footwear of choice for off-duty army officers. Often imitated, never bettered, its simple, clean lines are teamed with an unfussy lace fastening, a distinctive chequered lining and the signature crepe sole. This style comes in a narrow fit so we advise ordering half a size larger than normal.

i am 56,i used to wear these boots in the seventies so i thought i would relive my youth and go back to them.the fact is,when i put them on they felt strange, the sole is thin so you can tell if a coin is heads or tails if you stood on it.there is no lining to cushion your foot.the lace position is low which means your heel comes out as you walk thereby rubbing your heel.however they are a design classic, when i look down at them i like them,it takes me back to my twenties, they look great with jeans and i dont regret buying them

The boots arrived quickly but there were a couple of serious problems . The appearance of the leather uppers was cheap looking and the sizing was too large, particularly in the upper part of the boot. The return of the boots by 2nd class mail cost me £8. Perhaps it is a mistake to buy clothing by mail order especially if you have to pay the return postage.

I bought a pair of sand desert boots, just because I wanted to have the original boot that came out in the late 40s. Anf there was a great deal of sentimental journeying in it too, because I walked on desert boots all through my schooldays and university days. They are beautiful, just a bit less refined and more uncouth than the Loake desert boots I normally wear, but they are the originals, and that compensates much. I have the feeling that the quality is a bit less than when I bought these shoes in the 70s and 80s, but they're still very acceptable shoes quality- wise.

The boots themselves were excellent quality. I ordered a 12 thinking about other shoes I'd tried. These were just a bit too big. The impressive part was the returns. I took them to my local Clarks shop. They took them off me, sorted the correct size and arranged for them to be sent out to me, which I received about three days later. Would recommend them to anyone looking for a quality, comfortable and great fitting desert boot. Order your actual size as Clarks seem to come up correct ( so if you are an 11 don't err on the side of safety and order a 12 as I did )

A classic that all men should have in their wardrobe, works as smart and casual. In my opinion still the best available desert boots although admittedly not the cheapest. If you have a wide foot you would possibly want to follow Clarks own advice and go up a half size otherwise they are a true fit.

I had tried on my size in store so I knew this size would fit me, however I'm usually a pretty standard size 7 and these fit me perfectly. Initially they rubbed a little, but it only took a couple of times to wear them in. Now I wear them everyday and find that they are very comfortable to walk in (I walk around 5 miles each day to uni and back). They look really good on too.

These are such a simple, plain style that you can't really go wrong. They're not as uncomfortable as some say, with an extra thin insole possibly a good buy if you think that'll make a difference. They're a bit like wearing slippers, they're so easy to get on and off, not to mention the soft, quiet sole. I bought black and light brown pairs to cover most options and have no regrets, so they must be doing something right. As advised on the Clarks site, I went up a half size and think that was the right move, as they do seem relatively narrow.
