What Other Items Do Customers Buy After Viewing This Item?
A three-disc compendium of classic British children's TV programmes made by Smallfilms: The Clangers-those weird creatures from the early '70s voiced by swanee whistles, living on their planet of cheese that they share with the Soup Dragon and the Iron Chicken. 'Bagpuss, dear Bagpuss, old Fat Furry Catpuss, wake up and look at this thing that I bring.' so began every episode of Bagpuss. Made in 1974, it was to become one of the most popular childrens series in the uk ever, despite only comprising 13 episodes in total. A fat old toy cat in a second hand shop presides over a series of creatures that come alive to discuss the item the mice have brought before the cat. Ivor The Engine was the Thomas The Tank Engine of his day - a heavily welsh-centric animated engine from 'the top left corner of Wales'. The voiceovers were hilariously country Welsh and the characters named after the old welsh naming system: Dai Station, Evans The Song, Jones The Steam etc.
Features the childrens favourites Clangers, Bagpuss, and Ivor the Engine.

The big gripe with this 3 dvd set, which looks great as a package, is that the claim to have all the Ivor the Engine's ever made in colour. The box lists 24 episodes, but only goes up to 17 on the actual dvd, missing out some lovely episodes, and only playing therefore for just over 2 hours, not over 3 hours as it should. Be warned!
but be warned.
it only has 16 epsiodes on the dvd despite showing only 24 on the back cover.
so complete does not mean complete on this dvd set or even half complete
The youngest children are happy, so this box set scores well by default! From a nostalgia point of view, I found Clangers to have not stood up so well to time and tides. Ivor even more so. However, Bagpuss and friends are still most excellent. Really quite timeless.
The Clangers and Bagpuss also brought my childhood back like it was only yesterday and I'd forgotten just how simple and sweet kiddies programmes were back then.
The quality of this is pretty good, and plenty of viewing time too, so I would say well worth the money.
A true step back in time!
