CCDA examanination tests you on a wide range of topics and you need to have a good grasp of voice & video, switch & routing, wireless, and security as well as design methodology. I have read the two offical Cisco press books but this presents the information in a clear concise manner which aids learning of less familiar subjects. This book fills a void in the market for quality material on a complex exam.
Update 23/11/12
Having used this book as the main source of my studies, I passed the design exam :)

This book covers a lot of what I already learned in my CCNA Certification through the Cisco Networking Academy Program. However it is well laid out and easy to digest on my kindle for PC. The end of chapters quizzes again are similar to what you see in the Cisco Networking Academy Program and handy for consolidating what you have learned in each chapter. I have not taken the CCDA Design exam yet and I know that this alone would not be enough to prepare me for certification and it does not include any labs. I studied Computer Network Management & Design at University and a lot of the topics covered I already knew about. Overall it is an excellent book and does cover a lot of the theory/knowledge required for certification and a good understanding of Network Design.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ideal complement to the certification guide 12 Feb. 2014
By Daniele Peca - Published on Amazon.com

I found this book to be a huge help in getting a more synthetic and organized picture of the complex mass of information that is required for the CCDA certification. It seems that the CCDA candidate is expected to have a deep knowledge of several aspects of networking, like wireless, voice, routing, switching, not to mention knowledge of the various industry solutions and standards, and the Cisco products in particular. 'Cisco CCDA Simplified' does a good job in presenting the material in a more concise and sometimes more organized manner, with respect to the official certification guide. The boundaries of CCDA don't appear to be very clear, and one book is definitely not enough for a good preparation. I feel that this book is a great complement to the certification guide and the top down network design guide. The Kindle edition is a steal, at just a few dollars, and i find it readable both on the Kindle and the Cloud Reader. I highly recommend this book to prepare for the CCDA

5.0 out of 5 stars You can't beat this! 8 Dec. 2012

This book gives you a very good perspective on design and why designers make the choices they make! My manager does design for us, and he wants me to learn, and actually, when you get to the level of designing and architecting, you are at the top my friend! This book helps me to understand design and to develop a frame of thought when designing networks for customers. I'm studying for my CCIE R&S and this book has shown me that learning CCDA level material can very well help one study for their CCIE as well! Thank you sir for this well written tomb!

Written in an easy to read format and great for making it a pleasure to learn the basics. Only issue is that it doesn't have enough details to enable you to pass the CCDA test just relying on it. Don't rely on passing the test just using this but if you have enough time to study, it's worth a read since it reads so effortlessly. Not at all boring to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars DEEP DETAILS 2 Nov. 2012

I got this book HONESTLY just for fun, but it turn out to be a very interesting choice, I have not finished the book but so far what I read is pretty interesting it goes deep into my concepts of CCNA, I was not expecting to be shocked, check chapter 2 network design, YOU BELIEVE you know everything, well surprise, surprise, YOU DON'T, and this book prove me wrong, I have learn some tricks I din't know and ground some others I knew with fresh ideas, I will be happy to share my thoughts once I finish the whole book.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very readable Cisco material 21 Mar. 2014

Haven't taken the CCDA exam yet but I have studied for and taken several other Cisco exams and this is probably the most readable Cisco study guide I've worked through. Some reviews say it doesn't cover everything you need to know, but in my experience no book covers all the material and they all should be supplemented with other reading material or Video learning.

Great find, I highly recommend!
