WOW what an adventure this one was. I'm not a huge clown fan but this clown is definitely one I won't forget easily.
Sivan was just a boy when he went to the fair with his mother.
He saw something that day that would become his obsession for the rest of his life.
Through the window of a small trailer he saw the Clown, he wanted to be just like him. Strong, domineering and virile. Someone to aspire to. He wants to be him.
That day set a path for Sivan that leads to him hiding who he really is from everyone. His Obsession has become his reality, his secret has been hidden well until fantasy meets reality and nothing is the same again.
This whole story just blew my mind. I loved all the secrets of the circus it certainly was magical and held me under its spell.
Not a huge clown fan? You soon will be.
I really wasn't sure what to expect with these books as i absolutely hate clowns but friends kept saying to read them so i trusted their advice and i am so pleased i did as they were amazing.
This is the first book i have read by this Author and it certainly wont be the last, she kept me hooked from the very first page and when i finished this one i went straight over to the second book in this series with no stops in between as i couldn't get enough of them.
I couldn't get enough of this book but believe me, act two just gets better and better and you won't see the story coming!
A twisted journey into a deprived story of love and lust. One of the best books I have read in a long time.
The Circus - a place of magic and mystery, joy and horror, reality hidden behind a mask of make up, costumes and acts of entertain. Yet once it is in your blood there is no leaving the life, it infects and bubbles away under the surface until your very marrow cries to return to the circus. Imogene is a performer in a show that is sensual and teasing. Working alongside Sam she is invited to a family get together that ignites something wicked in her soul. From the moment she sees Sivan she wants him, her intentions not pure but still she is driven to have him. Unknown to her the same need is pulling at his soul matter the cost to his relationship with his sister, Sam. Stumbling into the truth of his sister and the things she has kept hidden, Sivan spirals into a reality that he has struggled to keep contained. He has his own secrets, his needs are becoming harder to repress and Imogene is the trigger for it all to combust. With the past and the present slowly weaving itself together can anyone truly love the clown?
Cirque is ominous and has a deep sense of dread, as the mysteries of Sam, Imogene and Sivan are slowly revealed. They are all looking for acceptance and escape for the pasts as each of them are fractured by their experiences yet unknown to them they are all linked. The connections lying latent as they are not aware. Sivan is searching for 'her' the one woman who can replace his illicit fantasy and Imogene seems to be the one. Imogene was ripped away from her life, as harsh as it was, as a child and has fought to return ever since in any way she can. Their dance is hypnotic as they twirl in circles; avoiding their secrets, trying hard to reveal too much, as they fall in love.Read more ›
I seriously am not sure what drew me to want to read this book as i'm really not a fan of clowns as i've always found them creepy but I think that maybe it was the cover that made me curious as it's got a strange magnetic pull all of it's own and as I read the blurb it got me a little more than intrigued. Firstly I was so totally surprised at how quickly I got absorbed into the story of Sivan and his secret life of being him "The Clown" from him seemingly being a normly hardworking man with a construction business with his friend Gavin.
As the story unfolds you are always on the edge waiting for something dark and sinister to happen but no matter what I read I just kept wanting to know more and more no matter what it was. I never once thought that I could feel so much for a clown with a dark side or maybe it's a sadness you feel for the young boy Sivan once was and for what he saw at such an impressionable age.
This is one of those books that you cant put down once you start and as I got to the end I was relieved to see the next book is to be released very soon.
Brilliantly written and thought provoking.
I didn't know what to expect from this book from the cover and blurb but WOW....it was amazing!
Clowns don't bother me no matter how creepy they can be and Siven plays the clown perfectly.
This book is dark and creepy and definitely 100% worth the read and it leaves you wanting more and I can't wait to start book 2.
