Format: Hardcover
This is one of the best books written with the horse as the centre point. It takes into consideration all the relevant people in the dressage business, from breeders to owners, trainers & riders. It is one of the few which sets out what it expected from the people around the dressage horse in a professional environment. A must have for anyone considering to compete in dressage.

Walter Zettl is a treasure among equestrians and every book, every video, every dvd is a prized thing. Of all the horsemen I have worked with in a lifetime of horses, this man is the very best ever, bar none.

The subject and issues mentioned in this book are not substantial enough to make it into a book. This type of info should be published on magazines.Too trivial. as in commom sense. The author has other good articles on the magazines so I bought the book--should not have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Authoritative and Compelling 5 Jan. 2012

Format: Hardcover
This is a comprehensive handbook that attempts to capture the ineffable -- the fascinating character and nature of horses. Idiosyncratic yet practical, the book provides a whole host of insights into the horse and many practical techniques that will aid anyone engaged in horse handling. I suppose the best thing that I can share about this book is that it isn't just a book about riding!

The title "The Circle of Trust" is a theme that is carried out through the book from fostering the horse's cooperation and being through the breeder, handling, ownership, rider(s), and trainer(s), instructor(s), and groom(s). This book also offers a comparative of Competitive Dressage VS Classical Dressage (which might highlight the flaws of the judging system). The topics could have been fleshed out but this is "Reflections on the Essence of Horses and Horsemanship". Informative book for inexperienced horse people.
