I remember "Cimarron City" TV series when it was broadcast by the ITV network in Britain in the late 1950s/early 60s with fondness. It was one of many great westerns on TV in those golden days. It had a lot of competition and did not strike me then as necessarily one of the very best though I was always a fan of George Montgomery's cinema westerns.
Viewing it now in this top-notch Timeless Video set with typically excellent picture and audio quality throughout I would say it had been under-rated. Most enjoyable and recommended.

George Montgomery, star of many Hollywood western movies, here plays Matthew Rockford, cattle rancher and mayor of Cimarron City, who, along with Sheriff Lane Temple ( played by John Smith ) tries to keep law and order in the fast-growing town of the 1890s.
Audrey Totter co-stars as Beth Purcell, owner of the town's boarding house, and Dan Blocker gives light relief as regular cast member Tiny Budinger.
This classic tv western series ran for 26 episodes from 1958 to 1959. The 12 episodes here have been remastered and each is around 50 minutes long.
Guest stars include: Dan Duryea, Gary Merrill, June Lockhart and Elizabeth Montgomery.
I hope that Timeless Media Group will eventually release the remaining 14 episodes.

if you like cowboys this is a great dvd set, so many famous faces and so far i have only watched 6 episodes ( the set contains 26 ) the stories are all good. we have george montgomery in the lead role, also co-starring john smith, each episode lasts around 50 mins. picture and sound quality are easily worth 8/10, the 6 dvds are housed in a regular plastic case, all discs are different colours with titles listed on them as per the usual tmg high standard. I think they were filmed around 1958 b/w total playing time 1300 mins ( over 21 hours) these dvds will play on any dvd player. Another bargain for around £15 from amazon via the internet highway.

While the episodes in this collection are quite watchable, the print quality is variable, with some looking more damaged than others & the occasional jumps in the film. What a shame better quality prints couldn't have been sourced. To get the best picture, you might find yourself adjusting your TV's brightness and contrast.
Apart from this niggle, I'm enjoying the episodes (12 of 50 minutes each) & spotting the famous guest stars.

Nicely packaged, this is another great distribution from Timeless Media Group. Set in the Oklahoma Territory of the 1890's, this classic black & white Western series is a must for fans of the old western films. Not having seen this series at all before, can't think how I missed it, and having watched only the first disc so far, am very impressed. The stories are well written, plenty of action, lots of well known guest stars such as Fred MacMurray in the first episode, Dan Duryea, Pernell Roberts, Dan Blocker, Gary Merrill, Dorothy Malone and the list goes on.
John Smith (Laramie) is the city's Sheriff Lane Temple, George Montgomery, the son of the city's founder, is the Mayor Matthew Rockford. Together they struggle to keep law and order in the oil and gold boom town. In full screen presentation and over 21 hours of pure western adventure, I am definately looking forward to watching the other five discs!

I must admit to expecting this to be 'run-of-the-mill' as so many sets of the time can be. I am happy to say that this set has good stories, with star casts, set in and around said Cimarron City. An excellent buy!

Happy to recommend!

I bought this boxset for one particular episode, so I haven't watched it completely, but the quality of the transfers seems acceptable considering it's a low-interest show. A little fuzzy in picture and sound quality, but perfectly acceptable viewing. No extras or subtitles as far as I'm aware.
