Gives a great level of insight into the character of Amos. Where he can from, why he is the person he is and why he acts the way he does.

Any fan of The Expanse - book series or TV series - who hasn't read The Churn should give it due consideration.

Should have the history up to the Canterbury. Nice little pamphlet but not long enough to bridge the gap till the seventh book. Get writing please,

As ever from James S A Corey the writing is excellent and the story brims with imagery and imagination. It offers an engaging back story for one of the central characters of the Expanse books....it's frustratingly short though. It did howver leave me eagerly anticipating the next Expanse book due in June.

The "fill-in" for the Expanse series is valuable, but a very short format for the cost

More Expanse related goodness it's kept me from being bored while I wait for Babilons Ashes. Given the choice I'd read this after "Drive" but before "Leviathan Wakes" as it gives the backstory for Amos. Having read "Nemesis Games" I pretty much worked out what would happen after the 1st few pages but "The Churn" was still a good read, not overly science fiction'y being a tale of a poor lad drawn into a life of crime but then sometimes the future can be about the things that stay the same.

btw Drive isn't available as a standalone but is can be found online here;

A good but very short story, filling in background detail of Amos Burton. This will make a lot more sense if you have read Leviathan Wakes and the rest of "The Expanse" series of novels.

Still can't work out if Amos was just an enforcer or a prostitute too.

Great read though! Def some good info on an enigmatic character
