It deals with the material in a very logical way, guiding you through the history of the churches, region by region as well as chronologically. It contains some wonderfully written, and obviously well researched, character portraits of bishops and clergy from the past. The sections on the churches on Ascencion Island, Tristan da Cunha and the Falklands are a bit less detailed, and perhaps less entertaining, this may either reflect the fact that their relative histories contained fewer characters than the church on St Helena, or more possibly the fact that the authors reserach was not as detailed on these islands. However each one of the accounts of each island's church history is still eminently readable.
So in conclusion, although perhaps a bit specialised for some, the book is a valuable contribution to literature about the island of St Helena, and readable regardless of your own personal knowledge of the islands included in the book.
