Pip works as a trip reviewer for a company and it allows her to escape her unhappy past and avoid building relationships with anyone. She avoids Christmas by staying somewhere new to review for her company. The way she arrives on the island builds such a delightful introduction to the pleasures in store. Every little detail has been catered for and it sounds like the perfect place to spend Christmas- or even to enjoy the special magic that only Christmas brings at any time of year. Every day can be Christmas - and you can just imagine staying in one of the igloos under the spectacular of the Northern Lights
Holly has such a delightful way of capturing magical settings and describing them in such a breathtaking way that you really do believe you are transported into the middle of one of her books and enjoying the trip alongside the characters.
The Northern lights are described as spirits in the sky, guiding lost travellers home- leaving a bit of the true mystical experience people feel when seeing them for the first time. There is a Chinese belief that couples who experience the Lights together will stay together.
I could just imagine watching the Northern lights through the ceilings of the glass igloos and wish that I could book a stay there!!Read more ›
I love Christmas and I love Holly's books so it was a no-brainer when holly asked if I would take part.
Christmas under a Cranberry Sky offers you everything you could want in a christmas romance book.
Let's start by talking about the main characters.
First off we have Piper or Pip as she is sometimes known. Pip has spent the last 12 years reviewing hotels all over the world. From the good to the bad she's seen it all. Pip however is tired of always moving around and wants to try standing still for a little while. She has one more review in her and then she's taking a break.
Gabe Whitaker has spent the last 12 years only picking the fun girls. 12 years ago his heart was broken and since then he's subconsciously picked girls that just want some fun. He's not picked anyone serious for fear of being hurt all over again.
There were a whole host of sub characters that were the perfect support to these two but my favourite has to be Wren, Gabe's daughter. There is something about that childlike innocence. The simplicity of being a child that you lose when you grow up and it was lovely to see how she views the world.
I cherished every single page of this book. Jupiter Island sounds amazing and I feel I have to go visit the Shetland Islands now with the hope of finding something even remotely similar. I adored the christmas market. I loved how every shop was unique. I would have been like Pip and wanted to buy something from everyone.
Holly whisks you away to this magical place that had me craving all things Christmas. I'm so totally over summer and all I can think about is doing some christmas baking and getting a nice frothy hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. I can't wait to start Christmas under a Starlit Sky.
Pippa the main character is living with a broken heart, and though her heart was broken over 12 years ago she has been running away ever since as there is no way will she let someone break her heart all over again, Pippa has spent the 12 years travelling over the world as has been employed as a professional holiday reviewer therefore she has nowhere she can call home.
When she receives her next assignment she simply presumes she is going on another typical holiday destination, she soon realises her destination holds special memories of her childhood. Pip is being paid to review the newly opened hotel Stardust hotel and from the moment she gets on the aeroplane which will take her to Juniper Island newly christened "Christmas island" this is no typical holiday hotel as this island is dedicated to that one time of year which most people hold special, Christmas!
When Pippa meets the owner of the holiday island she quickly comes to the conclusion this holiday will hold more than memories of her childhood, as the new owner of this beautiful hotel is Gabe the one man who she let into her heart but as far as she is concerned he broke her heart in the hardest way possible.Read more ›
