About the Author

VIRGINIA WRIGHT is author and illustrator of the children's book--The Christmas Secret. She also authored The Prince and the Dragon, The Princess and the Castle, Crying Bear, and an educational, non-fiction book she likens to a "Honeybee primer" titled: Buzzzzzzzz What Honeybees Do. Virginia, while a mixed genre writer, says she has found her love of words in children's writing as of late; and spends her time writing from Down East, in the beautiful state of Maine. The inspiration for "The Christmas Secret" comes from her two grandsons, Mikey and Tyler--who she says, makes the story come alive! Remembering all the Christmas's past--she also dedicates The Christmas Secret to her sons, Rob and Shane.

5.0 out of 5 stars A treasured tale you're sure to love! 10 Dec. 2015
By Deanie Humphrys-Dunne - Published on Amazon.com

If you want to read a special story with a magical Christmas message, you'll love "The Christmas Secret" as much as I did! Mikey's family was more wealthy than most in his town. Mikey's Dad was a doctor. Mikey loved Christmas, but he never could decide exactly what he wanted. Most of the toys he had were ignored. But his best friend Charlie's family was struggling to pay bills. Finally, Mikey and Charlie decided what they wanted for Christmas so they wrote letters to Santa. The story ends differently than you might expect. It shares an important lesson children will remember. It's a beautiful story, with bright illustrations to keep young readers turning the pages. I highly recommend this story! You and your children are sure to treasure it. Congratulations author Virginia Wright on another wonderful tale!

The Christmas Secret
Mikey has gone through the store catalogs and he needs to come up one item that he really wants.
Like the traditions about the pickle and giving old toys to charity.

5.0 out of 5 stars The True Meaning of Christmas! 29 Dec. 2013
By Jjspina - Published on Amazon.com

This is a lovely story of two young boys and how they learned the true meaning of Christmas. One boy doesn't know what to ask for from Santa since he has so many toys already. Another boy doesn't have many toys since his parents can't afford to buy very much.

It is nice to see a book written like this that shows children that giving is not only more important, but it also makes you feel better, than receiving. It is more blessed to give than receive. This is a very important lesson that this sweet story teaches to children.

A wonderful choice for the season or any time for children to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring book 10 Nov. 2012
By Dennis M. Higgins - Published on Amazon.com

The Christmas Secret Mikey's Story is a wonderful book for kids of all ages. I was impressed by Virginia Wright's writing and even more impressed by her beautiful illustrations in this book. It brought me back to Christmases of my own youth and family. There is even a passed down cookie recipe that can be made at home with your loved ones. The addition of a page to color put this little book at the top of my list. I recommend this book for anyone with a child in their life or just to own. The secret itself is something that must be shared.

Ok book for children. Quick, easy read. Cookies look really good and the story teaches children about sharing with the less fortunate.
