Chris Stewart (b 1952)Was born in Salford, Manchester UK. His early and most difficult years are well documented in his first book, A Bird in a cage and a Tin of Paint. After an early exit from engineering following the Oil Crisis he proceeded to work with youngsters on the fringes of society in Youth Work. Training as a nurse in Learning Difficulties and Teaching he now employed by SCOPE as a tutor to young people with severe learning difficulties and behavioural challenges across the north west of England. His struggles in childhood and with his disability has given him an empathy and insight almost unique within the caring profession. His faith ensures he is driven towards a more equal society. The love of his wife is the foundation of his new found freedom to be able to write about traumas so long locked up in his head and heart.
The second book, about his fractured and wild adolescence in Manchester is now in the pipeline.
