Chris Darnell was an officer in the British Army for thirty years. He was commissioned into the Gurkhas and served with them for ten years. He then transferred to The King's Own Scottish Borderers. During this time he had several operational tours in Northern Ireland, was awarded the MBE and Mentioned-in-Despatches. He commanded his battalion in the 1st Gulf War.
After resigning from the Army in 1999 he worked in the Defence and Technology industries for major, global companies.
He combines writing with consultancy work and charitable involvement in his various alumni organisations. He is a member of the Governing Council of Haileybury College.
