Lucia and Zach are with Uncle Davin in Hawaii undercover trying to find out why lots of demons are showing up and teenagers are going missing. They have to assimilate into the human way of life, which means going to high school and dealing with other teens, things Lucia and Zach are not used to and need to learn how to cope fast. Turns out they are not the only supernatural beings at school!
The story incorporates myths and legends like the Templar Knights and the Blue Moon, which really adds to the reading experience.
I liked Lucia, even though she was a bit frustrating at times! She wasn't too good at dealing with emotions, somethings she's not used to and has to cope with teenagers at high school and all that entails, and fails to understand why kids behave the way they do, and is certainly not used to feeling things like love, lust and jealously. She tended to act before thinking, which got her into trouble, but she is kind hearted and wants to help, but is too trusting and naive. I'm looking forward to seeing how she copes in the next book.
I loved Eli's character, dark, foreboding, sexy and a bit of a bad boy, but with a good heart. His attraction to Lucia was undeniable yet very sweet. I can't wait to see what happens to him in the next book.
I must admit I found the book hard going to start with, I just couldn't get into it until about a quarter of the way through when things picked up and got interesting, and by the end of the book I was really into the story, so I can't wait for the next book to see how it plays out.
This was a great, short read and I liked it. It was slow paced in the beginning but it picks up midway.
The plot was interesting: involving angels, demons, elementals and many more supernatural beings. The characters were intriguing and captivating especially, Eli. I liked uncle Davin, he made me laugh throughout.
I found Lucia annoying sometimes. The book is written in her perspective and at times it would have been nice to have other characters POV. There was a lot of repetition for example, Lucia repeating continuously throughout that she didn't understand human feelings.
I enjoyed reading the book: it was funny, witty with action, adventure and suspense. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
The Chosen Knights is a wonderful story of sweet young love, tempting and forbidden, but also so much more.
It brings us back to an old beloved Crossroads Saga character - Davin, some characters we already got a glimpse of - Lucia and Zach, as well as some new exciting ones that we just couldn't have anticipated meeting, or falling in love with.
I loved how Ting managed to create an exciting twist of worlds/characters that we typically wouldn't see together in one story. Angels, demons, vampires (but not quite), witches, Knights Templar and their descendants, fighting together and against each other, make this story intriguing and complex.
Also, I must stress out that Ting is the Queen of Cliffhangers. Much like some of her earlier work, this story has left me shaken, heartbroken and begging for more. I'll be biting my nails until the next sequel...
I "devoured" this book in one day and one breath. I just couldn't put it down down until I was finished. Mary Ting has done it once again.
I was given this book for my honest review.
This is a spinoff to the Crossroads Saga and can be read as a stand-alone
“I told you to keep it on at all times. What do I have to do to make you listen to me?” It was Eli’s voice. My heart galloped like Midnight racing for the finish line. Surely I was hallucinating, but how did my necklace move by itself? Was I delusional? As if he could read my mind, he spoke, It’s me, Lucia I’m here. I’m astral traveling, but I can’t hold on. I’m weak. (Lucia and Eli)
As a warm mist flows in the horizon we can see that the shade of white appears in the distance but as we envelope ourselves within it by getting closer the serenity of the mist becomes an awe. The softness of the surroundings is a sight to be seen and felt as it gently kisses our skin. Taking that into account within this read the whiteness of the mist can also appear to be a darkness that brings a shiver upon us but at the same time a feeling of completeness. This is Lucia’s and Eli’s journey.
Come take a journey like no other with Lucia and Eli along with their friends on this twisty turning, back to the past to the current of today and the future of tomorrow. Come and discover lands to which they have never seen or understood before all the while enveloping what was and what is to come. Be sure to have your screaming blanket available along with your favorite ice-cream that you will surely need to cool you off during this heated up read.
To the author: A normal review could not be done so leaving your readers with this is just the right amount of foggy mist enveloped in the darkest of night but with a subtle white glow.
Fear the demon, Embrace the past, foresee the future, get swallowed by the darkness, get encompassed by the purity of love, strength, hope and the lights of the nights sky.
