WAY too expensive, too rushed and not in line with the other books at all.
The fact that Xcor and Layla had been building for years (and I mean that literally as I've been patiently waiting for JR Wards one expensive book per year!) I felt their relationship didn't equate to how it'd been written previously. Layla became annoying which I never thought would happen and Xcor just lost his character.
Also the fact that the book was supposed to be Xcor and Laylas book is a joke because I'd say only 20% is about them and the rest is about Tres, Blay and V!
(SPOILER)...... And the ending?!!! Almost as bad as Quinn and Blays book ending 'happily ever after'... Really?!
I find it annoying that so many people are giving such high reviews, likely out of respect for the author rather than actually appreciating the work of the book.
I would wait until next year when the book might actually get reduced by a couple of quid (probably at most) or invest in another author like Kristen Ashley who releases around 4 books a year for a 3rd of the price and are actually a hell of a lot longer!
You've lost a lifelong fan here JR Ward! Stop being greedy with the prices of your books!

Well J R Ward has delivered yet again. This book is a whirlwind of love, hate, laughter and brotherhood. Loads of what the hell and seriously funny moments. Honestly it went from one OMG to another. Based around Xcore and Layla's story but as per usual bringing all the Brotherhood in. Wrath, Vishous, Quinn, Blay and Tohr all have their roles and as for Lassiter, you just won't believe it. I could not put it down. Can't wait for the next one.

Xcor, leader of the Band of Bastards has been captured by the Black Dagger Brotherhood for treason against The King, Wrath, son of Wrath.

After a lifetime of hardship and abuse, Xcor accepts his death sentence, his only regret the loss of The Chosen, Layla, a female who was never his to begin with.

Only Layla, The Chosen, knows the truth that will save Xcor's life, but can she risk everything she holds dear for the male she loves?

I admit to being rather disappointed with the last BDB novel, The Beast, although from fellow fans I've spoken to, that novel certainly polarised opinions, and I get the sense that The Chosen will suffer the same fate.

However, for me, I LOVED it. I have been waiting for what seems like a lifetime, virtually frothing at the mouth to get my hands on Xcor and Layla's long awaited story - and it didn't disappoint. Full of angst, regret, revenge, love, sorrow and loss, The Chosen really put my feelings through the wringer - without apology. Xcor's backstory broke my heart and I was praying for him to catch a break, although with a death sentence for almost killing The King hanging over him, I couldn't see a way for him to survive.

Layla really comes into her own in this novel. She risks everything, and by everything, I mean EVERYTHING for the man she loves, but more than that, she leaves her Chosen status well and truly behind her. And I loved it. There's a specific scene with Tohr (no spoilers), where I actually found myself cheering her on. What a woman!

Now Qhuinn...don't get me started on him. I wanted to reach into this novel and give that male a good shake, and let him feel the sharp edge of my tongue. He makes a lot of judgemental errors in this book, and I was most certainly NOT on his side.

Another fantastic story in this series! I Have no idea how the author can manage to continue this story and find new things to write about – but she does! And blows it out of the water every time!

What a journey of self discovery this book becomes. Not only for Layla and Qhuinn but Tohr, V, Xcor and Wrath. Well, to be honest, pretty much every one of the characters involved are put through the wringer.
This is a really emotionally tumultuous book which keep’s the pages turning. Just when I thought I had an idea of how and where it was going something else cropped up and changed the whole direction. Ann’s this wasn’t just a one off thing, but happened repeatedly throughout the book.

I love the character development throughout the series and the snippets we get back in with other couples is great.

I really can’t say much without giving the whole thing away but it was fantastic! Everyone should read it!

JR Ward has done it again with another spectacular addition to the Blackdagger Brotherhood series.
I cannot tell you how brilliant this series is and this is book 15!
Each and every book is packed wth drama, action, love, romance, suspense and intrigue. I find that I get angry with myself as a read these books so fast, because I have this burning need to find out what happens next and to who. But then I finish the book before I am ready to leave the brothers behind.
Excellent read

I have read books starting when I was three with my twin sister. We had our own library when we were eight..so reading has been a big part of my life but I have never laughed or cried as much as when I read a J.R. Ward book....and this one is one very good book to read. You literally fall in love with the characters every time you read one of her books...if you haven't seen or read one yet, do yourself a favour and start from the first one..you will not regret it...Happy reading..
