Erasure were on a roll, creativity and commercially speaking when they started the nineties with this gorgeously electro 10 track album. Gone were the strumming guitars and acoustic pianos of previous albums, replaced by layers of synthesiser sounds and digital rhythms. There were a couple of hits off Chorus including the title track but for me it's an album where any track could've been a single. My personal favourites are "Waiting For The Day", "Turns The Love To Anger", "Am I Right" and the magnificent closing track "Home". I also love the albums overall sound mix courtesy of Dave Bascombe who had produced Depeche Mode and Tears For Fears a couple of years before his work here.

The first run packaging, which I still have, was also something unique for its time as being one of the earliest deluxe edition cd releases. It came in a fold out clam shell style cardboard box with the full lyric booklet and a set of postcards inside with the cd on a plastic tray stuck to the bottom of the box. Later releases would be in the standard plastic jewel case. Of course greater achievements were just around the corner with the phenomenal succes of the Abba-esque EP. Four tracks of Abba magic given the very distinct Erasure sound and one of the few times Benny and Björn have allowed another artist to rearrange their music. But I digress. Chorus is where the sound of that ep originated and if you're new to Erasure it's a great place to begin.

"Am I Right, Am I Wrong Or Am I Just Dreaming..."

What an album. I have owned this since it was released and til this day it still sounds as fresh now as it did then. The album is so brilliant that there isnt a weak track on it. The four singles released from it are brilliant this is erasure at their best and till this day this album hasn't been bettered by them. The songs blend together well and although there isnt a bad song on it the outstanding tracks are the high tempo turns the love to anger and the haunting siren song. The album finishes with home and it is a mellow yet upbeat track. A great way to end it. Erasure have their critics but to me this is the best erasure album and one of the best albums of all time.

I loved this album back in 1991 when I bought it on tape and wore it out! It is still my favourite Erasure album after all of these years. There isn't one bad song on the playlist; from the great opening track "Chorus" to the gloriously camp disco "Love to hate you" to the haunting "Siren song". This was Erasure at their best during their classic period and showcases their musical brilliance - a must have for any Erasure fan!

This is by far one of their top three albums. It's rare to find a CD where all the songs are good. Even being 10 years later I still love it. The songs are catchy with good use of 80's style synths. The vocals are powerful but "chill" at the same time.

I sing in chorus as I listen to the tracks on this cd. " Siren Song" is my favourite one. I can hit the high notes on this one. Lyrics are catchy and, in my opinion, this is probably their best album to date. I saw Erasure live by the way last year and thoroughly recommend it. Great top hat Andy.

Erasure produce an album that has melodies, chords and lyrics that go on to provide nourishment for the soul. No true connoiseur of music can deny the simple effectiveness of this album that will remain timeless perfection.

Erasure's sixth Cd is a return to older synthesisers yet manages to sound fresh.Fast opener chorus is catchy, waitng dor the day a great mix of pounding bass and andy's vocals shine. The opposites here the machined music blend like a fine wine with lush vocal.Siren song is unmissable, and home a great ending to great hour of music!

Back in 1991, this was a bit of a shock. Vince had dug out his old analog synths and along with Andy had crafted 10 pulsing, swirling tracks. 4 of these tracks were released and 3 hit top 10 of the UK charts.
Easily the best aibum that Erasure have made so far, even the cover still looks modern!
