However this one stands out.
I first heard about Altucher through a dear friend of mine. Reading one of his older books pushed me to self-publish too and I am thankful for that.
The content of the blog is brilliant.
The podcast is awesome.
This book is also great.
This does not pretend to be a self-help book. Don't read it with that in mind. It's not. It can be whatever you want it/need it to be.
For me right now, the most important takeaway is that you have to literally choose yourself, believe in yourself and just try something that keeps nagging you in the form of an idea. In a recent scifi book (Joe Haldeman's Peace and War) - I read sth along the lines of 'do something, even if it's wrong', meaning that bad choices sometimes are better than doing jack shit.
You have to flex your muscles, move, try, attempt - it is a trial and error approach and if you fail, you fail - but at least you have tried.
I simply love the humility and honesty of the author's approach, combined with the informal way of writing. Things stick because they are explained in an easy matter of fact way.
Basically, read this book, watch Rocky III and then Rocky IV and you are going to be hyped out of your mind.
Great stuff, will re-read.
It has affected me significantly - I want to set up a group between friends to help ourselves to get better at 'the practice' in the book...
Also, James offers to give the price of the book back to who can prove they bought the book :)
I have no intention of doing that. This is a great book.
If you need to break out of a rut and get on the road for a new direction in life, this book will help you. It's essential reading.
The low Kindle prices is just fantastic, and the author is both generous and has an astute understanding of the human condition, with all its frailties, foibles, successes, and failures. I like the author as a person, even though I may not agree with all that he suggests. He has my respect and admiration.
Who is this guide for? Any fair minded adult in today's complex world would benefit much it's wisdom. A great find! An essential reference to read repeatedly, refer to, and consider applying its ideas in your life - whatever your age.
