KEEP AN OPEN MIND
Many of the reviews below try to compare this album to what their authors conceive to be chillout, referring to the likes of cafe del mar and euphoria. In essence these releases stay true to the classical definition of "chillout" as a genre, without paying homage to a huge amount of high quality downtempo music which doesn't fit into their little boxes. This album puts all preconceptions to oneside and re-defines our understanding of chillout. Please listen with an open mind and I promise you will not be disappointed. This is a beautiful record.
Having pretty much cornered the market for great dance compilations with Clubber Guides, Trance Nations, Annuals and the like, Ministry Of Sound took a step away from the dancefloor with its first major chillout compilation The Chillout Session. And as with their more uptempo assortments, the quality of the tracks is superlative. From the subtle downtempo beats and pieces of Jakatta's "American Dream" to the Ibizan sunset vibes of York's "The Awakening" to horizontal classics like Lemon Jelly's "In The Bath" and Leftfield's "Melt", you can almost picture the lava lamp steadily bubbling away in the corner of the room. It's not all instrumental tracks, either, Alex Gopher's "The Child" and Fatboy Slim and Macy Gray's collaboration on "Demons" both pop up to add a little bit of late-night soul. The only problem is who gets up to put the second CD on... --Helen Marquis

If you wanna chill you're not going to go wrong with this in the player. It has some great, interesting remixes. There's not a track on either CD that I don't like. Having been disappointed with the gutless music from the big chillout labels I've been turned away from buying these kinda albums, but I'm glad i made an exception for this one.
It may not be the run-of-the-mill music you can expect from your average chillout album, but it's a cut above the rest
Get it :) (and i don't work for the ministry!!)
