Academy Award nominee Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game, Sherlock) stars alongside Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire, Trainspotting), Stephen Campbell Moore (The History Boys, The Go-Between) and Saskia Reeves (Luther, Shetland) in Stephen Butchard's adaptation of Ian McEwan's award-winning novel, THE CHILD IN TIME.
Set two years after his daughter went missing, THE CHILD IN TIME follows Stephen Lewis (Benedict Cumberbatch), a children's author, as he struggles to find purpose in his life without her. His wife Julie (Kelly Macdonald) has left him, and his best friends Charles (Stephen Campbell-Moore) and Thelma (Saskia Reeves) have retired to the countryside, battling demons of their own. With tenderness and insight, the movie explores the dark territory of a marriage devastated, the loss of childhood, the fluidity of time, grief, hope, and acceptance.
THE CHILD IN TIME is a lyrical and heart-breaking exploration of love, loss, and the power of things unseen.

Wonderful drama. Lovely heartfelt performance by Benedict Cumberbatch, as a father trying to cope after the disappearance of his daughter. I think some found this drama confusing, expecting the drama to be about the missing child but that wasn't the focus of the story, it was about the parents, or more specifically the fathers struggle to deal with the loss of his child. Lovely moving drama of loss and hope.

I haven't read the book but understand this misses much of the plot line focussing more on the missing child. Not brilliant but reasonably. Watchable. Thought Cumberbatch played it rather well.

I had high hopes for this. But it was rambling and didn’t seem to go anywhere. There didn’t even seem much effort to find the girl.Read more
Where's the rest of it? Good as far as it goes, but we were screaming at the TV when the credits rolled.
