'Chickens Can't See in the Dark' is about a little chicken called Pippa who doesn't settle for anything. She starts looking for ways to make her wish of seeing in the dark come true eventhough she will come across others that tell her that she can't or make fun of her. But Pippa is determined and with that she can do it!
Not only is it a great story about not being afraid to be different and follow your own dreams, the illustrations are also beautiful. A great book to give children the confidence to be themself.

I had been waiting so long to purchase 'Chickens can't see in the dark' and now that I have it, the wait was well worth it! I'm a huge fan of Kristyna Litten's illustrations - the colours, the quirky characters and the textures are all really beautiful, and the story is a nice little reminder that just because someone tells you that you can't do something, doesn't mean you shouldn't try and find out for yourself. Great little message for children - and big kids, like me :)

This lovely debut picture book was short listed for the'Heart of Hawick' Children's Picture Book Awards 2013.
It was read in classes all over the town and much enjoyed by children and teachers alike. The librarians enjoyed the way it encouraged research in the library too. Text and illustration are beautifully melded together by the author/illustrator, who delighted the children when she came to talk about her book. I'm sure we'll hear more of her in years to come.

Being a Year 1 teacher, I found this book really useful as a way to introduce an investigation into whether we can see in the dark. It has lovely pics and a really good storyline with funny character names. Worked well with my class of 30 five/six year olds but as a parent I'd buy it for my own chn too!

Lovely little book that was spring board for discussion and lots of work on the dark and carrots! We now know chickens can see with carrots but can humans?
