1.0 out of 5 stars Not a reading copy - NOT EVEN A RELIABLE REFERENCE COPY 14 Jun. 2014
By Absent-Minded Professor - Published on Amazon.com

Were I just rating GKC's writings here, it would be a solid 5, but the presentation leaves a lot to be desired, especially at the price. This is a very large, thick, heavy book, not very well made. The binding is paperback-style glue between cheap-feeling hard covers, with no dust jacket. It doesn't feel like it would last very long without starting to come apart. Cramming 6 of GKC's books between the covers requires the type to be quite small with scanty margins. If you are looking for a reference copy for occasional consultation, this may be it, but if you are looking for something you can comfortably read (both physically and visually) without worrying that it will start coming apart on you, keep on looking. The construction therefore gets a 1. Averaging those two ratings for a 3, I nonetheless hesitate and feel I'm being too generous.
* REVISED: This is not even a reliable reference copy. I now participate in a Chesterton Reading Group where we group read a chapter from one of his works and then discuss it. I was bringing this copy to have as an extra, in case anyone did not have or forgot to bring a copy of the work we're currently reading, SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI. Unfortunately, what we found was that the copy in this book is rife with typos, word omissions, and so forth -- oddly enough, the same ones that are present in the many free online ebooks as opposed to publishers' editions. I get the feeling now that this book is simply a collection of free downloads printed and cheaply bound and published at an outrageous price. Bad form! If I could give it a 0 star review, I would. DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK.

5.0 out of 5 stars G K chesterton's Christian Writings (unabridged):Everlasting Man . . . 19 Sept. 2013

This book has been mentioned on Eternal Work Television Network (EWTN) by those who have journeyed home to the Catholic Church as returning Catholics or new Converts. So, I was prepared to like it since I knew G. K. Chesterton was also a Convert and responds to all the questions I have had over time. It is "everyman's" journey to God through reason.

3.0 out of 5 stars A lot of Fill. 13 May 2014

This author fills his stories with a lot of trivialities. You have to read between the lines to get to the meat of the story. Maybe thats how they wrote in his days. The book has very interesting topics but takes too long to get to the point.
