I LOVED Reclaiming the Sand here’s a link to my review, because I loved the first book so much I was really pleased that Flynn and Ellie’s story would carry on. But truthfully I really wasn’t sure what else there was left to say.
This was one of those books that you want to be really good but you’re not sure if it will be. I really worried that I would hate it and that it would ruin the original book which was brilliant because it was so unique.
Somehow A. Meredith Walters has managed to pull it off!!
Chasing the Tide picks up once Ellie has graduated from College three years after the end of the first book. Reclaiming the Sand ends fairly ambiguously because although we assume Flynn and Ellie ultimately have a HEA together we never really know.
Well now we do because that’s what Chasing the Tide is about.
The majority of the book is told from Ellie’s POV but personally I found the chapters in Flynn’s POV the most poignant, his outlook is so simplified and at times childlike that he takes difficult life decisions and relationships down to their most basic forms.
He loves Ellie; he wants to be with Ellie in their home in Wellston for him it’s as simple as that.
Wouldn’t the world be a much easier place if we all disregarded all of the bulls*** and just took every decision for is bare bones... will this make me happy???
Ellie makes me sad, the poor girl has not had an easy life and to be honest I would say that she has the most issues out of her and Flynn.Read more ›
Reclaiming the Sand was one of my favorite story. I fell in love with Flynn and Ellie. A shy awkward boy met the bully .When I finished the book I was hoping for more. I was excited that there was a follow up "Chasing the Tide" and I counted the days to get a chance to read it.
Chasing the Tide pick up years later after Ellie finished her college and went back home to Wellston , where Flynn was waiting. There was no doubt about the love Flynn and Ellie has for each other, it was honest, pure and unconditional, even though their history was full of heartache and betrayal. However, it was a struggle for Ellie to come back to Wellston as it reminds her of what she used to be. The mean , self-destructive girl with a horrible childhood life.
But it is where Flynn has decided to stay and make a life for both of them so she stayed with him. Ellie loves Flynn so much that even though the ghost of her past was crawling up back in her life, she fought hard not to be that girl anymore. However, everyday as she struggles to find a job even with her degree and constantly meeting up the people she used to hang out with, resentment towards herself was eating her up and this made her unhappy and made Flynn unhappy.
I love reading Flynns ' POV getting to know what he feels and thinks. He struggles so much with his social skills but he tries harder to be better. But there was one person who is the center of his unconditional love - It was Ellie. He'll do anything to make Ellie happy even if pushing his boundaries triggers his anxiety .Read more ›
