"A smart and sexy thrill ride...Tucker's best writing yet." (Karina Halle New York Times bestselling author on Becoming Rain)

I feel like I have been waiting for this book for ages. As soon as it downloaded I started it. Ugh, I LOVE K.A. Tucker’s writing. The Burying Water series so far has been amazing and made me read the entire Ten Tiny Breaths series too. You should definitely give them both a go.

Chasing River is the third book in the Burying Water series. Although each book can be read as a standalone each novel makes some reference to the story before it so for completeness and in the name of no spoilers you should definitely start with Burying Water. I thought Tucker had topped Burying Water with the second book Becoming Rain but Chasing River is even better than them both.

Chasing River is quite different. It’s the story of River and Amber. Amber was a secondary character from Burying Water and we know a little about her life as a nurse. In this story we see her at the beginning of her travelling Europe adventure starting in Dublin, Ireland. The story starts a little unexpectedly with the characters running into each other, River managing to save Amber’s life. The action starts in chapter 1 and just continues at the same pace.

After she recovers Amber from the accident, something triggers her memory and she searches for River to thank him and this is where our real story begins. Oh man I absolutely love these characters. River is just completely fresh from any of the characters I’ve met in either of Tucker’s series. There is an attraction between the characters that is deeper seated than the usual attraction which is completely to do with River saving Amber. I love that this cemented their initial friendship. There is a lot that River tries to hide from Amber, more for her safety than anything else, but some of his secrets are nearly too much for the couple to handle.

I really enjoyed Chasing River by K.A. Tucker. This the third book in her Burying Water series. This story focuses on Jesse's sister Amber whom we first met in Burying Water.

"I'll tell you a story about a lowly Irish peasant bartender who falls in love with a beautiful American princess."

Amber Welles has been saving her money for the last couple years to be able to travel around the world and experience life outside of her small town. When she makes a stop in Ireland she decides to spend the day on a bus tour. She ends up running late so she takes a short cut across Steven's Greens and something horrible happens. Lucky for Amber a mysterious stranger is there to save her but he doesn't stick around long enough for her to thank him. Will Amber ever be able to find the man that saved her life?

River Delaney does everything he can to keep his older brother out of trouble and when he finds out that Aengus is going to plant a bomb at the Greens he follows him. He also ends up saving a beautiful American girl who happened to be running through the Greens as the bomb was going off. He hopes that the girl didn't recognize him as he doesn't want the police to come looking for him. He goes back to work at the pub and can't believe his eyes when the beautiful American shows up his pub to thank him for saving her life. He knows he should stay away from her but there is something about her that he is immediately attracted to. What happens when Amber finds out who River really is? Will these two be to make a relationship work or will their completely different lives push them apart?

A river may be diverted, its waters pooled, its natural course interrupted. But its current will only ever truly flow one way.

Well KA Tucker did it again, she created yet another story that will strike a chord long after you’ve finished the last page. Being from England, I’ve lived with the threat of the IRA throughout my life albeit a lot less than the generation before me but a threat that’s real nonetheless. So when I saw the first mention of the IRA my interest piqued and I was unsure as to how I’d feel towards the characters and whether this would be the KA Tucker story that I wouldn’t give 5stars too. I needn’t have worried, we are taken on this adventure that is so beautifully written and explored in a sensitive yet insightful manner.

Chasing River is less suspenseful than Burying Water and Becoming Rain but what we lose from the thrill of the chase and the who’s done what we more than gain in the history of Ireland and the intricate nature of their relationship. What I love about KA’s writing is that she homes in on the littlest details such as why tourists are obsessed with Irish things that don’t necessarily equal Irish history. Real tangible things like the story telling River did had me hooked and desperate to visit Dublin. The scene setting is perfect and it really felt like it was written by an Irish writer who frequented these places daily, not a Canadian who had just visited, the level of research KA puts into her work really shows throughout.

Having met Amber in Burying Water I already knew she was the goody two shoes of the family and a real sweetheart always looking out for others so from the outset I really wanted her to have an epic story, I wanted her to go and explore the life beyond the hospital and the family home and do something for herself. Her story is definitely one of drama once she meets River, a gorgeous Irish bartender who skates on the wrong arm of the law.
