Rylie Roberts has written the best first book I have read by a first time Author. Chasing Happy is truly that in reading this story. Lara finely has her first job and it is a dream. Reed is an arrogant, focused, demon driven, wealthy business man. They both have horrid past that influences the idea of ever finding Happy. Lara has Kade, her protector and roommate. Reed has four best friends with whom he grew up. Their lives collide on a rainy morning in Dallas and then the Chasing begins. The painful revelations of each of their past is heartbreaking. The struggles to understand each other and how to be in a relationship are wonderfully written.
Rylie Roberts’s storytelling voice is great to read. I was given this book. I very much enjoy this story. I look forward to more stories from Rylie Roberts. I am so glad I got to read this book, I think you will be too. Give a new author a try; it will be well worth your time.

Thanks Rylie Roberts & Good Writing

The book starts with a ditzy woman stressing about a pair of shoes that she needs for her new job, whilst her gorgeous (gay) room-mate looks on and laughs. Her day gets worse when she crosses the road without looking, and falls in front of a car. She is picked up and taken to a workplace before she can blink, and the events are set in motion for the rest of the story.

This is a very good story that had my interest (and occasional disbelief) from the start. Reed is a top boss at thirty years old. Lara is twenty-seven but looks, and acts, younger. Now, bear with me as I try to explain. I understand that both characters have issues in their past, I get it, I do. I know that working through these issues is what will cement their relationship. Do I like them whilst they are working them through? No, not really. There is a thin line between being confident and knowing what you want, and being a complete jerk, ignoring when the woman says no (even though she then says yes), ordering alcohol when she asked for water, etc. As for Lara, being unable to say no to sex in her office or in a club, doesn't make her susceptible to his charms!!! It means she has no real thoughts about her own health. She may have been a virgin, but he is known to be a player and has admitted to it. He tells her that he never goes bareback, and she agrees with no questions. She goes for a health check up but nothing is mentioned about whether he does or not. With other things going on too, this couple were a hard pair to like and to root for.

HOWEVER, I'm glad I stuck with it as Lara grows up and you actually get chance to see her in action with her job, making it understandable how she got the position in the first place. Reed's hard edges soften, and together, they bring out the positive in each other.

This is a really super debut novel. I literally inhaled this story.

Lara's life is good. She's very excited to start her new job as a PR in a great company. However in the way to work on her first day she ends up in front of a car.

Reed the driver of the car is an arrogant millionaire. All he thinks about when he sees Lara in front of his car is a lawsuit so he does all he can to help her. There's chemistry between them but they don't act on it... Yet.

I loved the slow build up of the story. I was rooting for these two to be happy.

Well done to the author on a brilliant debut novel. I loved the storyline & the secondary characters were great too.

Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Story ok but very long winded and so I lost interest about half way through. Never felt the characters were fully developed and therefore felt the story lacked any real depth. Ok. But not great.
