After reading Kade who I might have just crushed on a little bit, I though AJ would have nothing on him. Man was I so wrong I’m in love with yet another of Jane’s sexy hot characters. You can read this as a stand-a-lone but I would definitely read Secrets and Promises first to get an insight into the life of AJ. In this book you get the lovable characters from Secrets and Promises and some new ones, I might have a real strong dislike for one of them named Austin.
Casey is the quiet girl next door type but can give AJ the ride of his life, which is great for AJ because he likes to bang hard!
AJ Morello is 26 everyone in his life is moving on, his sister Jillian is married to his best friend and business partner Jameson. AJ has been left running his dads family business fixing cars. His passion in life was drumming but thanks to choices from his past, that’s not much of an option for him now. He still enjoys his music at The Wreck which supplies him with his revolving door of one night stands. He needs a woman that will stick with him through the good & bad times and love him for who he is. The wreck has a new barmaid she looks like an angel all blond hair, blue eyes and AJ is a goner he chases her down with his cheesy come on lines. She caves eventually and life is looking sweet for them both. Then a phone call ends it all and Casey’s back off to Texas. AJ’s life is with his family but he can’t get Casey out of his head. Time for a visit in the middle of nowhere.
Casey Grainger has just got a bartender's job at The wreck, thanks to her hot mess friend Marisa. It's not her first choice of work because she has to put up with the selfish arrogant musicians. She never expected to see the hottest guy with dark hair, grey eyes, dressed all in black, ball cap on his head and wearing work boots to walk through the door and making a bee line for her. But he’s the sound tech guy AJ. AJ worms his way into her thoughts with his cheesy lines. She gets to know the real AJ, they share a few great months together then she finds out she has to return to Texas. Casey’s not told him everything about her past, her ex Austin being the main thing that she regretting leaving behind when her life turned into a nightmare. Her past is about to collide with her future, Austin is hotter than he used to be and there’s still that spark there. She’s still with AJ but it’s hard with the distance between them. AJ visits and it doesn’t go to plan.
The Epilogue shows you into the future, but where will go their separate ways living in the places they call home where their hearts are?
Will they drift further apart with the help of Austin?
Will they both get the HEA they both deserve?
While I hadn’t read the previous book in which there are some cross over characters I don’t particularly think I dipped out on any of the intensity because if the bundle of tissues that were strewn on my bedside table were anything to go by, this had more than enough going on in it for me.
Casey is trying to move on from her past, forging her own path with one clear goal, keep her head down and just get on with being Casey, she isn’t looking for anything from anyone and she certainly isn’t looking for a relationship but AJ is persistent, and being in close proximity at work isn’t helping the situation either. So it wasn’t necessarily a case of if but when she gave in and they started to see each other.
But as you would expect by the title, everything doesn’t go smoothly but that isn’t actually because of anything the two of them have done, nope the pressure is put on from an external source, from events that they or should I say Casey could have never foretold an unexpected death in the family that leaves her with a tough decision to make…stay and be with AJ or head home to Texas to take care of what is happening there?
AJ is a really great guy, he is everything Casey could possibly want and he is willing to do whatever it takes to get to know Casey, in every sense of the word but is it all over before it really had the opportunity to get started, will he lose Casey to her ex-fiancé now that she is back in Texas?
I liked Austin but he was an ex for a reason and despite the fact that he seemed certain that she belonged with him back in Texas and was pulling out all the stops to ensure that she knew exactly that, I didn’t want him to win…petty perhaps but she left him once and he didn’t follow her, he didn’t fight for her, he just didn’t and that for me meant that she wasn’t important enough to him, but would it mean the same to her or would the familiarity of her home surroundings and family pull her back to where she was and where Austin wants her to be now or will what she could have with AJ be all that she needs, I hoped so but the author played a very clever game and kept me guessing right up to the very end.
The emotional push and pull was superb, the formula may be tried and tested but the delivery was far from it.
Great story, with a strong resonance and a bucket load of emotion
AJ and Casey really hit off, and the relationship is going really strong when Casey has to go back to Texas. Casey and AJ were so good together, you could feel the chemistry coming of the page. I loved the book, there is more to story. I loved AJ he was so loyal to his family and Casey. This is the first book I read from this author, but it won’t be the last. I have to say I found Austin really creepy. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
The epilogue is exactly as needed and the characters are awesome.
Queen of Literature strikes again.

Chasing Casey is not your typical "Rocker" book only because neither of the leads are actually in a rock band, but it is nonetheless a rocker romance! AJ is a talented drummer and sound tech for other bands. Casey has a musical past she's kept a secret. There is always music playing . The budding relationship between AJ (the manwhore) and Casey (the good girl) will break your heart as fast as it heats your loins. These two feel destined to be alone, yet you can't help but want them to end up together. Being from different worlds may be an obstacle, but as the saying goes, nothing worthwhile is easy. Without a doubt, I fell for AJ right along with Casey, and at times wanted to throttle her for not seeing what was right in front of her.
As a lover of Rock-N-Roll myself, I totally dig the way Jane Anthony always throws in little bits of songs or musical tidbits. Throughout my read, I found myself smiling at a song or band reference that Jane had hidden within the story. Combine that with the rhythmic way Jane writes and you have yourself a fun read. There is one line in the book that I read and knew that Jane Anthony is an author I will always follow. Her way of putting words together and weaving a story has made Jane Anthony my new reading addiction.
