Review

"Like many people I know, I fell in love with Tyler Knott Gregson's poetry via Instagram. Maybe it's the allure of his Typewriter Series (awesome poems and quotes typed on vintage-looking parchment paper) or the fact that he posts just about every day so people always have something to see, but in the end I think it's his raw talent for striking the chords of emotion within us that keep us coming back"
--The Blonde Vegan
"His Haikus inspire in their simplicity because it has become rare to find beauty in the mundane. His poems are capturing in their tone and in the way he utilizes his words. His photography is simply breathtaking, to say the least."
--The Society Cynic
"There are writers and poets who just get it. Then, there are writers and poets who are so on point, you have no choice but to feel like maybe they've been reading your diary. If you're an avid Tumblr user, or just a fan of knowing you're not alone, you might be familiar with the work of Tyler Knott Gregson. Not only is Gregson a well-versed poet (pun intended) but he's also an incredible artist, photographer and has a big heart for charity."
--Buzznet
"With over 30,000 Facebook fans and more than 100,000 Tumblr followers, Gregson has definitely hit a nerve with his short-yet-poignant pieces. In an age of goofy Vine videos, memes and Instagram dinner-plate photos, poetry seems an unlikely addition to the community of web shares and posts. Gregson's poetry, though, isn't about flashy design or snappy humor. To read the comments on his blog and Facebook pages, it's plain to see that his words genuinely resonate with his fans."
--Elsewhere NYC
"I LOVE THIS! I follow Tyler Knott Gregson on Twitter and Tumblr. He's amazingly talented!"
--Feeding My Addiction Book Reviews
"His poetry always catches me a bit off-guard and makes me reflect - which is why I like it so much. If you need a dose of romantic and moving poetry in your life, I highly recommend you follow this guy."
--Eryn Faye
"I read page after page, and I hope you take the time to do the same. That way we all can tell our children, as they reads his words from their textbooks, that we were among the lucky ones who first happened upon Tyler Knott Gregson not long after his tumblr days. This man. Him and his words are remarkable. I would tip my figurative hat to you, sir, but even that seems to small of a gesture to express myself."
--Just Another Silly Dreamer
"Forget having a guy quote me Shakespeare or Neruda, find me a guy who can quote Gregson. He'd have me hook, line, and sinker."
--Belle of the Library
"Gregson's "Chasers of the Light" is a beautiful little book that will make you feel something."

"Gregson is clearly a romantic... His words slip past the defenses of even the most bitter, with boarded-up hearts and cynical minds, reminding readers why we love, yearn for connection, and bare our souls."

I found Tyler's poetry on Pinterest and it inspired me to start writing poetry again and to be brave enough to publish them on a blog for others to read. I love that an 'old fashioned' printed book that I can pick up and choose a poem from whenever I want is the outcome of people discovering Tyler through the most modern of ways of publishing - online. It is great that poetry is becoming popular again as people are able to share it with others in an easy and accessible way. This wonderful collection of poems is so beautiful. The way that the author is able to bare his heart and soul so freely it is amazing. His poetry is thought provoking and evocative and I am sure that everyone will have more than one favourite poem from this collection.

After reading Leav, Faudet, Shire and Ballah - this is a collection which I think is more aesthetically appeasing. The poems itself are okay, lacks substance and in some of them even thought. Some pages has a page torn out and only a few words have been highlighted. This to me is either a page filler or just lazy. Again for those who like the writings of Leav and Faudet this is definitely suited for you. But those who are used to the depth and tone of Shire and Ballah - avoid Chasters of the Light. I would give this as a gift for a person who is getting into poems or just has a vague interest - but apart from that you can follow him on social media and get the gist of the poems.

Love this book, found it in a tiny book store in North Wales after running a half marathon, very random.... and such a lucky find!
Honest, raw, emotive poems, written from the heart. Definitely worth buying if you love poetry and even if you don't, it will get you thinking. Beautiful.

inspired by a typewriter discovered in a junk shop this book is like nothing else - blissful. I adore this book - having glimpsed the pages in my pinterest feed, I wanted to be able to hold a copy in my hands and delight in his delicate poetry. It is not just the way he weaves his words, soft, silky beautifully written - but the use of tickets, envelopes and blanked out pages of books combine to a book that is a delight.

I hope there is more from this poet - please?

Every time I read one of these poems I marvel at what a gift this man has with words. Came across him on Pinterest but the style and design of these poems in print was something I just had to have on my bookshelf. The poems are some of the most emotive and bittersweet workings of words I've come across and that's a very hard thing to find sometimes. Second to none, a rare find and a must-read!

For the physical book, it is beautiful and the finish is lovely, as a creative/designer, such things are part of 'the customer experience' for me, and I can't praise that enough.

As for the content of the book, I would honestly say it's a bit over-hyped. I follow Tyler on social media, and even though I already knew what to expect, I was hoping the book would offer something different, but sadly it didn't. I wish I could explain it better, but I found a lot of the poems too 'intangible' and 'one-directional' (too narrowed theme and undiverse imageries); pages and pages of desperate-sounding confessions a lot of them coming across as incomplete. All these bored me quite quickly. I kept hoping for something a bit different, but I didn't get it. None of the poems really entertained nor stimulated my mind, but that's just me.

As for the the mindset of the writer and the awareness he is drawing to poetry and for how he is doing it, I am absolutely thrilled. A lot of people who love pedagogy would out-rightly trash the content of this book, denouncing it as poetry. They forget poetry is not just a string of words that abide by a set of rules, poetry is communication, it is a language and (judging from his following on social media) Tyler seems to speak the language of a lot of people. Many people who love reading generally 'hate' poetry, especially what is conventionally considered as brilliant poetry because it bores or intimidates them. Tyler has found an audience that love his work and a lot of people who didn't like poetry are having a rethink. I think that's laudable.

This review is short but heartfelt. Read this book. Buy this book. Share this book with a friend. If you want to have your heartstrings tugged and your emotions scattered all over the place, then read these beautiful poems. Typewritten on scraps of paper and interspersed with Tyler Knott Gregson's own photography, this collection of poetry has been woven into a gem of a book. I have been dipping in and out of it ever since I first picked it up and my copy is now stuffed with scraps of people, marking all of my favourite poems. I will be reading these over and over again because they are just beautiful and they speak to me in a way that leaves me feeling like someone has just looked into my soul.

I bought 3 and gave 2 away as gifts. My friends loved them and there's something a little bit special about this book and something even more special getting to share it with people you love. Only gave it 4 stars as i thought the photography element of the book was a little disappointing. Overall, great purchase.
