I love this film. It is typical Charlie Sheen comedy, right up there with Hot Shots! (1991), and these films proved he could handle comedy just as well as Platoon (1986) and Wall Street (1987). Sheen plays Jackson ''Jack'' Davis Hammond, sentenced to prison for a crime he did not commit. He takes Natalie Voss (Kristy Swanson) hostage and so begins a high speed freeway chase, during which Hammond is pursued by Officer Dobbs (Henry Rollins) and Officer Figus (Josh Mostel), Natalie's father, Dalton Voss (Ray Wise), Chanel 8 reporter Byron Wilder (Rocky Carroll), and some crazed fans Dale (Anthony Keidis) and Will (Flea). Nearly the entire movie is set in the red BMW 325i owned by Natalie, hijacked by Hammond, until the finale at the Mexican border. The Chase (1994) is one of a string of comedy and action films starring Sheen during the early 1990s, including Navy Seals (1990), The Rookie (1990), Loaded Weapon (1993), Hot Shots! Part Deux (1993), The Three Musketeers (1993), Terminal Velocity (1994), and Major League II (1994),

He practically lived at the box office around this time and seemed to be having fun, having previously taken serious roles, even in teen films, such as Silence of the Heart (1984), Red Dawn (1984), Lucas (1986), No Man's Land (1987), Eight Men Out (1988), and the Oliver Stone films. This slightly cheesy and predictable comedy-thriller is nonetheless a breath of fresh air and an easy watch for a Saturday afternoon. The Chase also stars Marshall Bell, Claudia Christian, Cary Elwes, Cassian Elwes, Ron Jeremy, and Bree Walker.

Want a movie to sit and watch without to much overload, well this is one the storyline and cast do a fabulous role performing with each others conflicts and problems one a criminal the other is a hostage, road races throughout escaping the law with a sense of humor thrown in. I rated this an A grade plus movie for unforgettable show still plenty of action and mishaps along the way to keep you entertained so see for yourself and see what you think, Enjoy as I did with feet up and popcorn in hand, great first class entertainment.

Jackson "Jack" Hammond is sentenced to 25 years in prison for armed robbery, although he claims to be innocent, but manages to escape on the way to Mexico.

To get away from the police while at a convenience store, he takes a girl as hostage California heiress Natalie, and drives off in her car.

She happens to be the daughter of billionaire Dalton Voss, one of the richest men in the state.

In a while the car chase is quickly being broadcast live on every TV-channel, covering the event from helicopters, the backseat of a police car, the pavement of the highway etc.....

Back in the early nineties, before he went off the rails, and changed his name to Charles, Sheen made some very strange, but inspired movies.

This was one of the last of those movies, and it's fun, but when you watch it, you understand why this is one of those movies that rarely pops up on TV, and never really mentioned in movie talk.

It's almost like the nice little sister to Natural Born Killers, the media coverage is ride here, and thus turning the whole proceedings way over the top. And I guarantee when you see this movie you will think of the O.J Simpson facade that was all over TV.

With great support from Swanson, Rollins, and a couple of the Chillis, The Chase is basically a parody that works, but was cruelly overlooked when released back in 1994.

Well worth seeking out though

This is one of Charlie Sheene's best films and definately worth getting whilst it is still available.

It's one you can watch again and again, nice sense of humour throughout and good acting from Miss Swanson too (what a babe).

If you like Charlie Sheen this is a `goodie` film to watch. He plays the `harrased` con-man on the run with the `Bossman`s` snooty daughter in tow to perfection and she does not help one bit. I wonder how much BMW paid the Producers of the film for `product recognition` as the script mentions the car maker at least twenty times. All in all a good `romp` with a surprise ending.

okay, suspend your disbelief....but this is actually an excellent film.
I first saw it on TV YEARS ago, and yes it's fun. Yes, it's cheesy. Yes it's got an implausibly hot blonde in it.
But the best part about the movie is the way it lampoons the american media, and their methods of reporting...well, pretty much anything.
Highly, highly recommended and at this price, you literally cannot go wrong.

The Chase stars Charlie Sheen as an (innocent) escaped convict who kidnaps Kristy Swanson, the daughter of a local property magnate when police go into the petrol station he is in and the stolen car he is driving comes over the police radio. Complete cheese from the outset, there is something strangely enjoyable about The Chase. There are some bizarre scenes like dead bodies falling out of a medical truck on the highway and a helicopter blowing up from one pistol gunshot. Also, the acting from the supporting cast (which includes Henry Rollins and members of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers) is so hilariously overdone it makes you laugh throughout. A surprisingly fun guilty pleasure worthy of a cheap purchase. 3/5
