Dave is wonderful! If you could make up Dave's background and history, you would want it to read just like this. An incredibly talented musician and songwriter who has played with some of the world's greatest - and earned the respect of them all. He makes the music he wants to make. The parental advisory sticker on the front isn't a joke! He tells it like it is, using the language he uses everyday. Not for the easily offended!!

A great story behind this talented & often underrated duo, how many people know that Chas Hodges was a session Bass guitarist for the late great Joe Meek, Chas also featured in many groups of the early 60's, including working with Jerry Lee Lewis, with a young guitarist named Ritchie Blackmore, & Big Jim Sullivan, doing the German tours when the Beatles were out there, it was 1972 when Chas dropped the Bass & went on to his favourite instrument the piano,
this is where Dave Peacock comes into the story, having served his time in various bands.
All in all a super book written by Chas himself, anybody who grew up in the late 50's & early 60's should read this book.

This is quite a short book. It has a few good stories but not enough detail for my liking, especially the Joe Meek
Period. Chas is obviously not a Zepplin fan even though they gave
Chas & Dave a spot at Nebworth . I would have given this one more star had Chas not said " Paul McCartney
Was the Beatles ". Was he <*#k. We are all entitled to our opinion, but I just don't see how the Outlaws
( a shadows tribute band) could have considered themselves better than the Beatles. I have a soft spot for the
Cockney duo, but overall I was a bit disappointed buy this book.

Chas' musical heritage was both surprising to me and HUGELY impressive. I thoroughly enjoyed the read although there's a slight discrepancy about his father's death (as a result of a shotgun wound) between Chas' book and a recent documentary. In the doc, his dad commits suicide. In the book, Chas, as a small boy, pulls the trigger in a tragic accident.

Anyway, a great read and a fascinating story.

I purchased this on a bit of a whim, and I am so glad I did. Of course I knew the music and have bought a few of them, but would not consider myself a big fan. I also knew a bit about them and their influence on the music scene over the years. Nothing could prepair me for how good this book was. It was laugh out loud funny. If you have an interest of any kind you must read this, the story is almost unbelievable, yet, it would seem to be true! I write this on New Year's Eve and I have to say it is the best book I have read all year

I thought this would be about both of them, it was a great read but the word "I" appears more in this book then any other I have read. It is a very good tale about Chas. It could really do with a bit more about his partner/s. As a "Cockney" meself I appreciate the pictures he paints. As a story teller who writes great "Story" songs I expected better. Worth the price "Just"
