Charlotte Vardy is an experienced teacher and school-manager, currently Head of Divinity and Philosophy at Ardingly College in Sussex but Director of Studies at Heathfield School before the birth of her children. She is passionate about raising standards in education generally and in Religious Studies specifically; to this end she founded her own teacher-training company in 2005, became Secretary of the Oxford Conference in Education in 2008 and set up Candle Conferences in 2010, which she directs alongside her work in the classroom.
Over the years Charlotte has worked with a wide range of Charities, Examination Boards and Publishers; she advised the Coexist foundation on Religious Education between 2007 and 2013, designing and providing teacher-education events and associated resources for them around the world. She was invited to be on the Education advisory board of the Tony Blair Faith Foundation in 2008-9, and was involved in the inception of the Face to Faith initiative. Charlotte developed the content of the Student Zone website for The Tablet in 2010-11 and also assisted digital publisher Microbooks in producing interactive resources at this time. She worked with Cambridge International Examinations in 2012-13, developing international qualifications in Global Perspectives and training US AP teachers to deliver them.
