This has to be one of my favourite books, I have read it over and over so many times I've lost count and still not bored of it.

You have to just read this book.

This is an absolutely adorable wild west story. Charlotte is a wonderfully spunky heroine who is determined to make her own way in the world rather than being married off to the horribly unsuitable Ogden Livingstone.

Her cunning plan is the classic 'disguise yourself a boy' trick but things don't work out as expected when her stagecoach is held up by a bunch of criminals. Luckily she has the curt - but utterly wonderful - Slade Hazard to look out for her. 'Looking out for her' does seem to involve an awful lot of spankings, but let's face it, we wouldn't have it any other way.

Slade is a wonderful hero. Great name for a romantic hero, too! He also has a wonderful turn of phrase - I particularly enjoyed "He'd kick his own ass if he could reach it."

I'd recommend it to this to all fans of spanky Wild West Romances.

A well-written novel with some twists in the story. The characters are well-developed and the book is easy to read. There is nothing deep about this, it is straightforward, easy reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sass Charlotte Meet Her Match in Slade 2 Nov. 2014
By Redrabbitt - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Once again, Mary Wehr has spun a wonderful page turning story. I found myself laughing out loud several times with her characters and dialogue. I love the spunky Charlotte and her antics and sass. Cutting her hair short, dressing as a boy names Charley and traveling from Boston to Kansas to see her father, Silas Henry. The trip was uneventful until three rowdy cowboys playing a prank shot at the stagecoach shortly before they arrived in Swiftwater, Kansas. Charley couldn't just be quiet and listen to Slade, no she had to kick one of the bandits when she got mad. This sets a domino effect in motion where Nathan is going to strap the boy and Slade steps in calling Charley his brother and says if anyone is to strap him, it should be him. Charley is forced to reveal to Slade that she is a girl. Charlotte has never been spanked in her life, even by her parents. Slade will be changing all that. The story has several spankings, including a bare bottom with a wooden spoon administered with love. Mystery and suspense, good and bad lies, truth of parentage, half-brother and one mean nasty grandfather. The sexual element of the story is mostly talk of what is to come.

4.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed this story and I give it 4 stars 10 Nov. 2014

The story starts with Charley sobbing on her Daddy’s shoulder as her mother prepares to leave on the stage with her for Boston. Charley does not want to leave and promises her Daddy that she would return when she was grown. Fast forward about 10 years and we meet Charlotte, all grown up. She is being courted by a man who is well-to-do, but not a man that Charlotte is interested in marrying. She concocts a plan to travel across the country to her father as a young boy. While on the coach she meets her father’s foreman, Slade. He decides that he will protect Charley until he gets off the coach. Unfortunately, the coach gets held up and Charley get mouthy with one of the men holding the stage up. He decides that he will teach the boy a lesson and give her a whipping she won’t soon forget. Slade goes along to protect the boy. Eventually, he is told she is a girl and he tries to protect her. What proceeds is a very quick courting between Charley and Slade. There are some spankings but they are not too severe. I enjoyed this story and I give it 4 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars This was a sweet humorous story 6 Nov. 2014

This was a sweet humorous story. It has a few chaste spankings. A young lady dresses as a male to travel to see her father. She allows her temper to lead her into hasty actions that leads to her first ever spanking. Charley is discovered by Slade to be a loving but feisty little lady who is in need of taking in hand and he promptly steps to the plate. This was a quick but entertaining read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great western!! 3 Nov. 2014

I absolutely loved this book! Westerns are a favorite of mine and this was written so very well. Charlotte's character was a hoot and I could so relate with her. Slade is one hot cowboy and he was definitely man enough for her. Loved the plot, the twists and turns and the HEA! Nicely done!!
