Dibble explores the entire life of Stanford both musically and personally. It looks in great depth and often answers the questions that students like myself often have. It looks in depth at his relationship with others such as Parry (whom Dibble has also written a biography on) , Grove (of the Dictionary of music and musicians) and his salaried work (CUMS / RCM / Trinity College). This is a fantastic resource for anyone with a mild interest in this area of music to someone writing their dissertation on Stanford. The references are informative and believable (hidden away at the foot of each page thus making it an enjoyable read for non academics). Oh and it tells you what the music is really like!.
