So, firstly, I think this is a great product and would recommend it to everyone and will likely keep installing them on all my future cars, so hopefully that says it all to anyone wanting a quick review.
I bought this on 16th November 2018, didn't get round to doing anything with it until 10th December when I ran some tests on it and its behaviour for a few hours in our electrical workshop at work to make sure it was good and safe before installing it into my car. I finally installed it to my Mk1 Audi TT on 16th December. It is now 14th March 2019 and I have done several thousands of miles since then (long commutes of 110 miles a day and other journeys) and I use this every time I get in my car, I have a heavy use of sat nav on my phone to see traffic updates and play music from my phone so max power use which the fast charge port keeps up with, also used second port to charge my bluetooth headphones and all seems good. Over the past few months there has been no noticable degradation in performance yet.
So really this does a great job of being 2 USB ports and being a fast charge device, also the bonus of the voltmeter means if you know what you're looking at you will notice when your car battery is aging and needs replacing or your charging system might be going faulty.
Ok, so all the positives done, the negatives are really minor, but this is why it has 4 not 5 stars:
1. The reason I mentioned which car I have installed it into is that the diameter of this is a few mm larger than my current cigarette lighter. This of course might be different to other vehicles, but at least for my car if I was to remove the cigarette lighter and replace it with this I would have to make the hole larger. I opted in to keep my original cigarette lighter socket and wire this in parallel and installed it out of the way below my indicator stalk.
2. The voltage on the readout is not 100% accurate. See pictures. This was tested plugged into a desktop power supply set to a variety of voltages, tested with a fully calibrated Fluke multimeter to show the voltage being fed to it. The power supply also has a meter on it that can be seen in the photos and was set to read Amps to show when current was flowing etc. This shows a minimal current draw when just supplying the device, but increases when charging my phone through the fast charge port. The results show that with nothing plugged into the sockets it was showing a voltage of 0.1-0.2V low, this dropped by another 0.1V when fast charging my phone.
Ok, so this works well, does everything it needs to and so long as you know how low it reads you can take good info on your battery from it!

I've been using these plug in cigarette lighter USB port converter sockets for the last 10+ years, and frankly, the experience has been fair to poor. Many different problems like the adapter popping out of the socket, or working it's way out, the adapter sticking out in some cases, and my plugged in devices catching the swinging arms of my untrained passengers. Also problems with something happening with the car, and then somehow the adapter is no longer working optimal (maybe a surge?). Buzzing sounds coming from Bluetooth adapters; the list goes on.
Anyway; to cut a long story short, I had a think about things, then decided to take the whole ashtray/cigarette lighter socket thing apart, with a plan to maybe for this next or near to that socket. In the end, I realised that they were a very close match in size, but for maybe 0.25-0.5mm. one can almost screw it in without any alteration, but it gets too tight about halfway in, so I just rubbed the edges of the hole that the lighter socket was in, with a rod file (actually it was a screwdriver with a rough metal pattern handle). 30 seconds of rubbing was enough, and this usb socket fitted in nicely. Next comes the connector issue. The terminals on this USB socket are the same size as the pins/blades of the original cigarette socket, but a few mm wider spacing. Due to them being kinda long, I put two bends in each pin/blade, so that they came closer together, but remained parallel as required by the original Audi connector. The fit was perfect, so no mod to the car writing was necessary. The cigarette socket gets power from the dash side fuse box, so is already fitted with a great blow fuse of the right sort of rating. The final result can be seen in the photos. It looks like it was always there, since 20+ years ago! I've also found that the circuitry in this socket, smooths the power by filtering nearly all of the noise out.
I'm beyond happy with this item, and will definitely be fitting these in other similar applications in future. Build quality is good, circuit design appears to be solid as well. And to top things off, it looks the business. 👌🏼
