Good sturdy packaging and good quality seeds - the finches love it and it's a fair price. I can't store the bigger packs but this fits on my shelf!

The goldfinches have been noshing on this niger seed for many weeks now. I usually buy it in in smaller quantities but I kept forgetting so I got this pack on Amazon and didn't regret it. I seem to do almost all my shopping on Amazon these days.

Well I am not sure about the Niger Seed, everyone raves about how all the birds love it, and will flock to your garden to eat them, but I must admit I am very disappointed with the seed altogether, you have to buy a Very Special Holder for the Seed, and then for the Birds not to eat them, is very non-cost effective. Very disappointed, and difficult to fill containers with., so bought a proper funnel which you can regulate.

While the birds happily eat the seed, the seed does not appear to be heat treated and therefore I have a nice growth of weeds under my feeder!!!

I bought this on spotting Goldfinches in my garden bushes last week and hoping to entice them to my feeders. Delivery was a tad slow I thought, and was delivered by courier. The 'finch food' came packaged in a cardboard box with paper filler surrounding it which is all easily recycled. The seeds themselves are extremely fine and if you're not careful they are easily spilt! I haven't seen my birds at it yet, but its still early days :)

The packaging had slightly burst but I take this to be poor handling in transit because it seemed otherwise to be very secure. The seeds had the desired results with Goldfinches, Siskins and Linnets noticed for the first time in my garden. It was amazing to see the speed with which they found the seeds.
4 stars only because I have found it can be bought locally cheaper in bulk , 33% less, at a national cut price store in admittedly poorer packaging.

Before buying this we had finches galore on the feeders. Then bought this because it was cheap. Big mistake. Finches stopped feeding. After a couple of weeks of having a finch-free-zone, I did some research and found that finches are very fussy and don't like old seed. Bought some new from a local garden centre and within a day the finches were back. I conclude that this bag at least had old seed. Buy frequently and from somewhere with a high turnover. I bought Nature's Feast from a local garden centre which was fine - but I can't say if it is the brand or the time spent on the shelf that made the difference. Either way, Chapelwood from Amazon was not to the taste of my finches.

Not sure I love it myself, but am sure the birds appreciate it!We are trying to encourage a wider range of birds into our garden so this part of our cunning plan.
